If tentative plans hold together, expect the first bit of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 DLC -- an Xbox 360 timed exclusive -- to hit at some point in Spring 2010.
Infinity Ward’s community man, Robert Bowling, tweeted as much on November 25th: “DLC is planned for the wonderfully vague timeframe of Spring,” Bowling said in reply to a fan. He added, “I’ll let you know when we know it’ll be done.”
The tweet shores up a previous report of a Spring 2010 launch date, which was brought to us courtesy of a promotional pack of MW2-themed Monster Energy drinks. Yes. Energy drinks with previously unannounced release windows printed on them. God bless, America.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Heh.
I agree with Mr Hibbert - MW2 got real boring real quickly. I've not even prestiged this one and I can't bring myself to play it anymore, did get to about rank 60, but just got sick of running around shooting people in the back, over and over, and over and over.
Could be something to do with the MAG and Bad Company 2 beta's I'm playing. I've been spoiled and MW2 just doesn't cut it anymore. So far my FPS chart is...
1 - MAG
2 - BC2
3 - MW2
It's a close one for MAG and BC2, think the only reaosn I'm playing more MAG is the SUPER SLOW personal progression on BC2. But they both completely take the piss out of MW2, like hands down.
BC2 looks as good if not better than MW2, and plays better too boot.
MAG doesn't look as hot, but plays way better, plus, there's nothing like 128 players all assaulting an oil refinery from all sides, with each squad having their own objectives (specially if you've set the obj) Nothing like it.
MW2 - the best LOOKING FPS out there, got a good quick progression to keep you playing, and has got a superb single player campaign.
However I believe we are the generation of FUNCTION over FORM - Gameplay is far more important than graphics. And when your super shiney, really pretty game plays just like the last edition, the PvP is going to get boring real quick, something a lot of us are finding out.
Were this DLC due soon for xbox and Ps3, I may have got it, just to extend the game a little, but as i've got to wait for this bullshit exclusivity deal to expire, I'll just fucking trade it in and get MAG in Jan.
Your loss Activision, hopefully many more gamers hold the same sentiments, that "unfair competition generation" / "virtual advantage" deal must have been $W33T!!
I've got to learn to control my ranting.
It was justified, don't worry.
Modern Warfare 2 has some serious competition coming up to the point that if they want players to keep logging on, they need to stop with the bullshit they're pulling, especially with BC2 and MAG coming out soon.
Did you enjoy the Joker dlc for Arkham Assylum?
However, I think 1 piece of exclusive DLC on a B title (not talking quality, talking lack of online, instant B in my book) is a pretty small answer to buying up timed exclusive DLC (TIMED is another important factor, essentially tricking everyone who is not reading forums/blogs into thinking it's proper exclusive) for every fucking Mass market, mass appeal, AAA game that hits!!
What was it, did i read correctly, $50mil? for GTA's TIMED exclusivity?!?! Ever wonder where your LIVE fees go???!?!?
I mean the fucking DJ on the radio a while back was talking about "the new GTA" and how it was "only on Xbox 360" and "is it even coming to Ps3?"
A - It's not a New GTA, it's a collection of the expansions already available.
B - It's a Timed exclusive that will come to the PS3 eventually, but by then, actually already, GTA4 is the last thing gamers care about.
See what I mean? The whole exclusive DLC system is a con, it's a way to trick your potential market into thinking your version of the game is better. Excellent ethical business practice there. They trick you, you pay them, lap it up, buy more, pay more, get tricked again. So on and so on.
I mean it's fucking ridiculous, I wonder how much silver Microshaft-the-industry-in-every-possible-way lined that greedy "Cocksucker" Kotick's palm with for the exclusive DLC for the "Biggest Entertainment Release of all time"?
Hmmmmmm, disgustingly massive payments to create a "virtual, percieved, timed advantage against competition" and then L4D2's online servers aren't big enough........
hmmmmmm, someone needs to be putting those LIVE fees to a more customer orientated use methinks....

Also, maps.
There is a rehash of the "All ghillied up" mission in spec ops. It's one of the Charlie missions.
Christ, I thought I was the only one. The maps in MW2 are f***ing awful. It's like they designed them to get boring once everyone learned them so that we'd have to buy the next damn map pack to keep the game playable.
Im pretty sure the GTA expansions are exclusive and not just timed, plus they were worth while expansions, as i own both of them :D
oh well. when i hit 70 i'll have a chance to go back and play some more uncharted 2 multiplayer. at least they got a new map.
The main campaign was done in 2 hours. Expandable campaign experiences via DLC are where it's at.
orange county seo really pretty game plays just like the last edition, the PvP is going to get boring real quick, something a lot of us are finding out.
for an update that implements those multiplayer modes people have found snippets of in the PC version.
