Modern Warfare 2 Avatar gear is, uh, hmm ... photo

I believe the word I'm trying to come up with here is "expensive." Needlessly expensive.

Jim recently gave us a preview of a single premium Modern Warfare 2 Avatar outfit and already we have the full set of them to glance over. Or, if you're really itching to burn Microsoft Points, buy them.

Now admittedly, the miniature UAV is kind of cool. But you know what would have made it even cooler yet? If the silly virtual thing was a free Avatar Award obtainable by playing Modern Warfare 2 rather than a $3.00 download.

Has anyone here broken down and bought Avatar stuff before? It's alright -- we won't judge.

"400MSP -Modern WarfareŽ 2 Ghost Uniform"

Yeah, sure, I'll just take a completely useless item for a completely useless feature and spend 400MSP on it instead of buying a full XBL game. Yeah. Totally.

i went a head and bout an IF shirt. pretty much cause it was 80 ms points and i had a balance of 90 ms points.avatar stuff is more like impulse buys between ms point buys. so i don't go for the 400 point stuff.

I've never bought avatar stuff, and I don't really plan to. I'll take whats given to me for free though.

If they would just let you buy what you want instead of making you buy 500 or 100 points every time you want to get something we wouldn't have those 80 ms points left. Why is there a type of microsoft money anyway? Why can't I just buy what I want for the exact same price that it is with a debit/credit card. It pisses me off!

MS are crafty with their pricing. The amount of times I've bought 160MSP songs for RB2 only to find that I have 150MSP left is astounding.
And of course, the only way to get that extra 10 is by buying 500.

*guilty of buying an item*

I had 80 extra points, so I got that big ass pirate hat. Please don't hate me too much.

The Props and shit though are really goofy and only get worse for the like $5 bucks they cost. The only reason these items aren't unlockable, is because they can get away with it a la Call of Jesus MW2. :p

Yea, I bought one thing: A PA shirt (Wombat). I've always liked that shirt, so I spent spare MS points to buy it.

I bought my avatar a Chicago Bears jersey, because the neon-green Xbox jersey he had on wasn't getting it done, and I knew it would be the only avatar purchase I will ever make in my life.

I still felt a little dirty.

I did, only though when i have very few points remaining (likea around 100 to only 200 at the most) and even then I just buy the cheapest stuff of the bunch (stuff around 100 to 80) But i amn not planning to buy any of this.

If anybody pays for this stuff you are stupid. You are the reason companies can charge people to change virtual clothing. The same goes for PShome

I bought one shirt, a Mass Effect N7 t-shirt for 80 points. Because I had a lot of points left over and I'm tired of picture packs and dumb little add-ons and I've bought all of the indie games I wanted.

The stuff for Forza was just as overpriced. I guess this stuff will continue to cost this much as long as there are people willing to spend the money on it.

I'm completely guilty, having bought several things out of boredom and nerd status. But the MW stuff is actually cheaper or equal to the other offerings, save for the ghost suit. Hell, the lightsaber is 400 points, the Halo Hog was 320. Given that this (MW2) is more popular than both the aformentioned sources, 240 for that UAV is cheap. Granted, it is still 3 bucks, but I'll probably wind up buying it because...well, I can.

But that Ghost Uniform has to be the worst piece of avatar clothing to date. Ever.

I've bought plenty of goofy stuff. A pirate hat, the new Splinter Cell stealth outfit, some pom poms (don't judge me, they're funny as hell, especially when in the stealth outfit)...but even with price aside I'm not buying any of this.
Not because I can't afford it or am cheap with points, but because the stuff just isn't very good.
Yes, the guy who they could get money off of for pom poms finds your MW2 stuff weak. Mull that over, Infinity.

The reason I didnt buy the Left 4 Dead expansion campaign on xbox was not because I was upset for having to pay for it when the PC got it for free. (Even though I was, I would have bought it anyway.) No, the reason I didnt get it was because it cost a retarded 7 dollars. What was I going to do with that extra 3 dollars on my account? Buy some useless crap that I dont want like this avatar stuff? No thanks. Fuck you Microsoft.

I just can't think of a good reason to spend anything over a dollar on this shit. If this stuff was 8 points instead of 80 (10c compared to $1) I would be all over this. I can buy a t-shirt from Sears that I can ACTUALLY WEAR for $5. Why the FUCK would anyone support any of this overpriced BS. If you keep throwing your money at MS they will continue to charge $3 for a virtual toy your avatar pulls out about 1/5 times I am at your profile in the dashboard. Its called micro-transaction, not regular priced-transaction.

There are no materials, no manufacturing, no distribution. The only price point is what they think you poor saps are going to pay for a fake t-shirt that takes a minimal amount of time to design and create. I feel dumb even talking about why this (Avatar marketplace in general) is so dumb.
