To a fan of all things sci-fi, X-Com, and mobile games that are worth a damn, Star Command looks as fapworthy as it gets. It's even being developed for iOS and Android! To make sure the game will actually be as good as it can be, Warballoon has started a Kickstarter for the game. The goal of $20,000 within a month for a mobile game might be a bit on the high side, but you can't blame them for reaching for the stars.
You can get all kinds of special stuff by participating in the Kickstarter, ranging from the game's soundtrack to free access to all paid future DLC that might come out, or even getting your likeness as a character in the game. So if you can afford to help out developer Warballoon, and if you've been complaining about the lack of "real" games on the mobile platforms or lamented how not enough good games come out on Android, here's a chance to help them prove the world how to do it right.
I was wondering what happened to this game as I was really looking forward to it. I really hope it reaches it's goal, though sadly, I myself cannot contribute. Best of luck to Warballon.
Also, where did the weekly mobile round-up got Mr. Tan? I liked that feature.
As a huge fan of X-COM and I really see that coming out in this game but I also love games like StarFlight. So what really interests me is how everything else is going to work out.
It sounds like we can expect some real time ship to ship combat but how is general planetary exploration going to work? Will you be able to land on any planet (assuming its atmosphere is viable and or you have environmental suits) and say extract minerals?
I also find myself forced to ask about cross platform support for Smartphones and the PC?
I've been dying for a game I can play on my PC (when I'm stationary long enough) that I can sync with my phone and take on the go with me.
I'm continuing that from this weekend onwards again if all goes well. Things like planning gamescom and some other personal life annoyances caused a short break, but I'm glad you liked them :)
No resource gathering but there is planetary exploration. Currently its more of a "heres the planet and here is what you see, make a decision" but eventually, through an expansion pack, we plan on giving you the option to go down to the planet, again ala X-Com.
There are plans to have the game be Desktop and mobile compatible. Play on the bus, sit down, and continue your game on the computer. That said, its extremely low on the priority list, but would be a great thing to get working at release.
