Rovio still needs to be really strong in franchises and constant evolution in gameplay horizons to be considered such. It sure us popular, but shit it just is not as strong.
Just how Justin Biever will be forgotten in a few years, so will angry birds.
When these guys make another good game (so nobody regards them as one hit wonders anymore), then I'll start taking their words seriously
One hit wonder...
Seriously, who the hell does this guy think he is?
That's a shame. I guess they will never be able to appreciate real games with actual depth. Now all they have are games meant for people that want to do something while they wait for the bus.
Gaming isn't defined by something i've only ever done whilst on the train or the shitter.
Dunno about Angry Birds being the new SMB. Angry Brids is good yes, But.....I think some developers get alittle ahead of themselves.
To compare it to Mario or Tetris, and insinuate it has even a close impact is an insult to both.
My irritation was made greater today when my two young nephews came home with Angry Birds plush toys. Fuck, man.
I am going to be attempting to get into this business, and am already messing around with Android apps, and I just can't imagine saying shit like that and having it end up on a webpage. To really appreciate a game, in my opinion, it helps to know something about who worked on it, and what their desires were for the final product. If they just wanted to make money and are full of themselves, I believe it shows through the media they create. It's a vision, and when you pull people in and gain their respect, and then shit out of your gab-hole, you can really stink up that "relationship."
I believe I wrote too much on this subject. I didn't sleep last night.
>develop one shitty and casual as fuck game for idevices.
>get lucky as fuck with success.
>become as arrogant as humanly possible about it.
What bullshit if anything its the mobile industry that has no legs due to the likes of Apple setting the pricepoint of their games too low and flooding their market with crap. Sourcebits just got lucky thats all, otherwise theyll be making peanuts like most mobile devs
However I wouldn't fully say it's really obtained the same level of success when it comes to Mario Bros. When the NES was out, it was a hardware that costed some hundred dollars and the software was an extra 30-50 dollars. When it comes to Angry Birds though, you're buying hardware for a few hundred dollars, but spending only a few dollars for software. So a lot of it's success rides on how cheap of a game it is. Or if you're on the Android platform, it's free.
Nope. I played the trial before it blew up. It didn't seem like it was worth 5 dollars to me.
Angry Birds be angry now. :D
That article pretty much sums up my thoughts on this
When I'm playing Angry Birds Galaxies 2 20 years in the future, THEN I'll admit that its the new Super Mario Bros. Until then, sit down and shut up cause its a long ride.
People will forget about Angry Birds once they figure out an app that will intravenously apply Farmville .
And once they lose relevance, it serves them right for ripping off a Newgrounds game and profiting off of it. Karma's a bitch.
