MOBA Dawngate looks mostly familiar in first footage

3:15 PM on 05.20.2013

We recently got a glimpse of Electronic Arts and Waystone Games' multiplayer online battle arena game Dawngate from its official site, but here's the ensuing "first look" video. While it isn't all developers talking about their hopes for the project, go in expecting to hear a lot of discussion along those lines.

Spirit wells, areas on the map that generate AI-controlled harvesters for the team that controls the region, sound like an interesting idea. As does integrating elements of the user interface directly into the map itself. But even if there is an ambition to further the genre, the art style is a bit too safe for my liking. Should you want to give the beta a shot, signs-ups are being offered here.
