Today is a day to be filled with blood and ring outs. MLG's Summer Fighter Arena, containing both Mortal Kombat and SoulCalibur V, has just gone live. Watch it by heading over to the official site. This event is today only and has $3,400 up for grabs in both games.

You can watch the action in standard definition for free, or you can upgrade to HD viewing for five dollars. Upgrading also grants you access to the archived match videos as soon as their available, an invaluable asset for fans who can't always sit at home all day to watch the tournament.

Want an HD code for the event for free? Just leave a comment below with your prediction of what character will take first in either Mortal Kombat or SoulCalibur V (or both!) today. First three comments will receive a code! [Update: codes are all gone!]

Speed. It's what has separated 2D fighting games from their 3D counterparts for so many years. That's not to imply that 3D fighting games aren't fast per se, they've just never really been at the same level... until now...
