Yeah, that's exactly what I said: ALL people should ignore whatever constructive or destructive criticism they make, shut up and like the game.
Those are my exact words, not some jackass spinning them into a straw man.
Nope, just a verbatim quote.
"...because WE like it without providing any reason or argument!"
Right, if you like it you can't have reasons to do so, you just "do" and are completely baseless about it, right? Right?!
So, you accuse me of misrepresenting the "complainers" while you proceed to misrepresent the people who like the game. See, this is what is called "being a hypocrite".
"Never heard someone defend the side against new IP's..."
And you're not now, ether.
What I'm asking is a legitimate "Why do YOU want a new IP from THIS company, and what purpose will it serve to YOU?"
You get new IPs all the time, from other companies. If your answer is "I want a new NINTEDO IP" it goes back to "why?". What does Nintendo giving you a 100% new and untested IP give you that other new and untested IPs from the hundreds of other companies do not?
And finally, why are you asking for new IPs? Shouldn't you be asking for new GAMES instead, with the IP being functional to the GAME and not the game to the IP?
Creating a new IP, then working a game AROUND it is great for marketing, but pretty poor for game design.
You know, it's pretty easy to debunk an argument when you quote it completely out of context.
Less so enthusiastic about Star Fox, mainly because everything they've done with it, aside from the 3DS remake of the N64 game, has been pretty crappy.
Let's be honest here: Other M did a couple of things way right, and a couple of things super wrong. I think that Other M is the perfect example of a concept being at odds with the execution.
I think a full 2D Metroid should be something made for a handheld console.
About StarFox Wii U: I don't know how I feel. I mean, I kind of want them to make a worthy successor to StarFox 64, but at the same time, I wonder what they could possibly do to make a "better" StarFox, without looking like they're pandering to the nostalgia of their fans.
