As much as I love Zelda and Mario,I would like to see what the old guy can still do,with him working on smaller titles with new devs,we could see a great deal of new interesting IP's,which Nintendo could definitely use.

sooo if he's still at nintendo but at the frontlines, I hope he makes a new I.P, hadn't had one o' those since pikmin. GOD SPEED SHIGGY!
This is a really smart move. Eiji Aonuma has shown with Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword that he has a good handle on the Zelda franchise(even though he wasn't the director for Skyward Sword, he was a producer). And Mario has been in good hands with other developers in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Land 3D. It's good for them to gradually introduce new blood instead of just thrust new stuff on young devs. And this way, Miyamoto will be able to work on some projects he may not have had the chance to when he was on a higher corporate level.
Japanese people are very loyal to the places they work. Its quite common that they only work for the one company their whole career.

I think this is probably the most graceful way to gradually wean Nintendo off his influence. Sadly enough, the dude won't live forever.
Good for him! I think it's great news that his heart is still in game design rather than being an executive. Looking forward to whatever he comes up with. :)
I'm excited to see what he'll come up with on his return to development. He's arguably the closest thing my generation has to a Walt Disney.
it's sad to see him gone considering his influence in all of Nintendo games and consoles for the past several years, but it's great that he will be developing new games again. it's kinda like the end of an era - his pursuit of quality gave amazing games, but also many possibly amazing games that were cancelled even after their development process was finished(Project HAMMER, Kirby games etc.). hopefully this move won't lower the quality of future Nintendo games.
as for folks claiming that "finally nintendo will innovate" - where the fuck have you been for the past 20 years, retards? you obviously are nintendo haters and if you think that innovation means flooding the market with even more brown shooters and action games dumbed down for the lowest common denominator then i think you should stick to sony, EA and activision games. Nintendo is probably the last big publisher that innovates with pretty much every single title and console they release.

I just realized that someone is going to need to explain to these people that my previous post was a joke. You see, the humor is derived from something that I like to call “Sarcasm.” Now, what this means is that I said something that clearly goes against the evidence that clearly in front of me, so as to achieve a comedic effect. I would link it but I'm too lazy; Miyamoto is in no way shape or form stepping down according to an IGN article.
If this means more original games in the future (who knows, maybe a new series franchise will be created) then I'm all over this like marmalade on toast.
I think that at this point there are many game developers who have been inspired enough by Zelda/Mario/Metroid etc to get a grasp of the soul of the games, so it's nice to get see if Miyamoto can create something completely original.
