It's too bad that many simply focus on said 'dated' elements of the Wii and refuse to play some of the best games of this generation.

People here clearly don't know that Miyamoto has headed up a ton of new IP as of late despite his high ranking producer position, Steel Diver just came out last year.
Miyamoto is a god, I'd love to see him head up something high budget.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe a lot of Nintendo's games are the same. play the original Mario, then play Mario Galaxy 2. yeah. they're sooooo similar. while you're at it, play A Link to the Past and Skyward Sword, then play Metroid and Metroid Prime.
the 3DS is far from doomed at this point. iPhone is a fine piece of technology, but Cut the Fucking Rope and Angry Birds don't even begin to compare to the games on my DS and 3DS. hell, even my PSP had some impressive games.
now excuse me while I burn my free copy of MW3 and BF3 while listening to Zelda music

I think it's more franchise familiarity than anything else. People are like "New Mario, must be the same as the last one."
This often comes from people who opt not to play these games. To those people, allow me to cite Sonic as an example of an old franchise that tried "new things."
