The game is a horrible lazy console port on the PC. The only video settings you can change are enabling v-sync and the resolution. The game could really use some AA because even the artstyle can't hide the horrible jaggies and horrible textures in the environments. The mapping is also bad and has me stretching my hand across my keyboard in order to do simple tasks. I really feel bad for anyone who bought this on the PC, hell, I feel bad for those who pirated it on the PC.
While the video options are underwhelming to say the least, most peoples problem running the game was simply that it didn't auto launch the Direct X installer like it was supposed to (it's fixed now). All my friends who had trouble launching the game from Steam (including myself) fixed the issue by simply running the Direct X and VCRedist installers manually.
While having the option to enable aa in game would be nice, especially since it was a feature that was promised by the devs, any pc gamer who isn't a drooling idiot can force aa from their video card's control panel. Just sayin...
I haven't had any of the problems other Steam users have been having with Darksiders 2. I've not had any crashes and I knew from past experience that Darksiders (and subsequently the sequel) plays a HELL of a lot better using a controller. So I'm playing on the PC using a Dualshock 3 emulating the Xbox 360 controller scheme (thanks motioninjoy). The lack of graphics options is kind of sucky, and even vsync doesn't work properly (I still get screen tearing), I'm still having a lot of fun with the game.
The biggest problem for me was the v-sync not working, forcing me to either max out my video card with rendering 3 times too many frames or force v-sync in the drivers. Also, you can't change the resolution until you get to the gameplay pause screen, and applying changes requires a game restart. It's far from ideal and it's sad that this version of the game doesn't really take advantage of the PC platform (yet), but with the high framerate and resolutions, it's still the best version of the game if you're using a gamepad. I can't comment on the mouse+keyboard controls because I did not try them.

I simply cannot get over the amount of bitching games entail these days.
I bought Darksiders 2 on Steam, regardless of nonexistent pointless graphics features I can live entirely without, the game is fucking fantastic.

Was looking forward to this game, ehh I'll buy Sleeping Dogs instead. I'll pick Darksiders 2 up on a sale eventually. Patching some of the annoyances out would get me to buy it. Right now to many people having issues for me to bite the bullet.
Their team got gutted when Vigil did layoffs. You might want to rethink calling them "lazy", when the game weeks from being done and a bunch of people let go. Kind of makes it hard to fix things, doesn't it.
The lack of pc settings bums me out a bit, especially seeing as I can't get vsync to work to kill that screen tearing that's happening. However, I tend to play my pc games like a console (connected o the tv and with a controller) so I haven't even noticed keyboard and mouse issues.

not even going to look into this, but from what's written in this article it seems like some basic .ini (or .config?) editing could add a lot of options. granted people shouldn't have to resort to that.

I miss the good ol' days when there were options in games. Now you are lucky if you can change your resolution.
Those layoffs hit them pretty hard. I can understand how a few things might not have made it in right away.
After reading all the issues on the THQ community forums I think I'm going to pass on this game until they actually fix this shit. Not worth my $40 at this time.

That's odd. "What I pay for" normally gets me a great experience and for the same price, you can get the amazing PC port of Sleeping Dogs. So why settle for second best?

I've posted a number of complaints about this in ign forums, and in thq forums, they were deleted every time...
I mean, we gotta throw THQ a bone. They're pinning all their hopes on this game, and their resources were dwindling near the end of the cycle.
Look at the Darkness II. That had about the same range of PC options. It sucks, but maybe they'll remedy it in a patch.

to everyone who says we 'pay less and want more' - it's not true. the devs get the same profit from PC and console sales, but Sony and MS take more for distributing the game than Steam does, simple as that.
it's a poor port and we didn't get the features we were promised until the very last minute before release, so yes, we are entitled to be mad. not only did we not get those, but some of the features that are there simply don't work.
