While the footage we've seen thus far of Mirror's Edge has been pretty impressive, a lot of it felt washed out by bright sunlight effects and sterile environment. With the exception of the bright red objects to give hints to routes, there wasn't a whole lot of color.

At Leipzig today, EA was showing off a new level, called "Stormdrains," that displays a much larger interior area. Now that the lights aren't so bright, the colors start to jump out a little more and it's nice to see that the bright white of the outdoors isn't necessarily the primary aesthetic. The video above runs through the level and has some pretty sweet wall-jump action too.

The first-person perspective still makes me a little queasy upon viewing, but I suspect that will be different once I finally get my hands on a controller. Even if it does make me sick, I'm going to play this game. How about you?

This game looks ridiculous. So excited.

This level's already been seen on the internets. They showed it around a month ago at some other convention or expo or whatever. I don't know if the video was posted to Dtoid or not. C-blogs, maybe. Anyway, it was like 20 minutes long and contained this same sequence.

This game looks far too narrow a linear path for me to like at all.

It also looks pretty simplistic and glaringly obvious where to go (the only place you can and follow the red objects).

@xe-cute
Maybe, but maybe not. It'll probably be different when your hands are on the controller.

Who are all of those catwalks meant for other than a free runner? Somebody needs to fire their architects.

If you look just central to the video you'll notice a very small - almost single pixel sized - white dot, at least during moments of darkness. Apparently that's there to prevent motion sickness. To be honest, looking at it made me feel more unwell than not, maybe it's meant to be a subconscious thing.

I still have no idea how to play this game. I know that you use the triggers to 'go high' or 'go low', but do you move yourself with the sticks, or are you on rails? It looks too smooth for somebody manually moving the character. Either that or they're just incredibly good.

As pants wettingly amazing as this game looks, it's coming across as very on rails. With all the freedom this game has by not just being the normal floating camera, it seems to be destroying that by just saying "go here, do this, go there, do that". I want some freedom dammit.

This game is going to be outstanding. I can't say the red "go here" objects are a great mechanic as I'm sure we could figure it out on our own, but I don't even care. The way that you move, the flow of the levels, and the excitement of being pursued are all beyond incredible here.

I also like how there's no music. The lack of music actually adds atmosphere to this.

Whoa. As long as the gameplay can't be summed up by "push analog stick forward to win," this should turn out pretty well.

These comments read like the Dead Space of FPSs.

I'm amped, I loved randomly jumping around in Assasssin's Creed. Also, color = good.

I remember reading that you'll be able to turn those red areas off in the settings as well as the center dot if you're not that prone to motion sickness. I'm still looking forward to giving this a shot.

I really hate that point of view. They ought to have the option to switch out. And that runner's vision where scalable crap is highlighted red? Pretty lame.

This kind of reminds me of a combination of Half-Life and Portal. As far as puzzles and the jumping around. But there is no cake

I must not be watching the same video as everyone else. The one I saw, even with the red shit, half the time you'd have no idea where to go without a whole bunch of trial and error.

When this game was 1st announced and promoted I thought it would be like a First Person perspective game but with the same kinda freedom as crackdown had.

All they said was jumping from building to building etc etc and so I thought it was freedom jumping and roaming type game.

Now it is glaringly obvious it is pre determined path and will ahve no replay value at all (also no multiplayer I guess).

Shame as if they made it choose your own path in an openworld than it be great.

A lot of people seem to be moaning about the fact that the path seems predetermined. Now assuming it is fairly predetermined, I don't see it as a terribly bad thing. I mean what I've seen so far looks like it's purpose build for speed running. I can imagine it being fun to play through the levels again on a timer to see how fast they can be beaten. It'd be nice if they added in some challenge times and leaderboards and maybe took out any save points for the time trials. Cos it does look very satisfying to run through the levels as fast as possible without messing up.
