Mirror's Edge demo, you say? Why yes, you can march to your PS3 and download that sucker right now. If you have a 360, you'll have to wait a day, but you can keep yourself amused playing Penny Arcade Adventures Episode Two in the meantime, which I'm having a blast with.

The video above is actually a trailer for the demo (something I don't recall seeing often: a tease for a tease of the actual game) and features a sexy blonde who shows Faith the ropes when it comes to acrobatic skyscraper exploration. DO WANT is an understatement when it comes to my hunger to get my hands on this. Are you going to get the demo?

I still don't get it. These trailers do nothing for me. This game looks so uninteresting. I guess I'll get the demo and see what all the fuss is about.

I don't see it on the Playstation Network, maybe Europe has to wait a little longer... like always?

@Tanukitsune: I find that the PS Store usually doesn't update until the late afternoon (Eastern Time). I usually check around 4 PM or so.

I, unfortunately, will be way to busy for the next 4 days to give the demo a spin, so I hope some one will post their opinion of it.

Hm... looks good. I can't wait to play something fresh in the first person perspective. Will be interesting.

Anyone have any idea when this will show up on live? Do I stay up late to play it? Or do I have to wait until Major Nelson bestows it upon us?

It looks too linear for my taste. You must follow a set path. There's no real freedom to explore.

Tommorow can't come quick enough to download it on live. @heyricochet I'm guessing we'll have to wait until he bestows the good news upon us. Here in the UK, live is normally pretty good at updating first thing in them morning here.

Went to check the major's blog, and most demos seem to pop up at 2am, guessing PST. Maybe some waking up early is in order due to my EST location.

You don't follow a linear path in the full game. The developers stated that the path it does show is just the recommended path. There is usually more than one way to go.

Also, the ps3 demo doesn't come up till tonight. I just checked also and it's not up yet. Can't wait though, should be pretty awesome.

@solidgoomba: Read my preview. There is nothing on rails in the game. There isn't a single gameplay moment where you're not in complete control of Faith (except for sliding down things or being on a zip line, etc.).

I know it was only a silhouette, but I think that Blond is the one from the demo that most of us played previously. The chick you throw the package to at the end.

Playr, a show in the UK, had a whole episode dedicated to the game, showing a lot of new footage. It's got me pretty amped!

Or mute it.

Just downloaded the demo from PSN and took it for a spin. Good shiz. DICE really knows how to make a good game. And thanks to EA for finally taking some risks and making some original games. I'm almost done with Dead Space. I was skeptical on that too, but it really knocked my socks off. I have a hunch Mirror's Edge will do the same.

This game plays fantastic, and looks gorgeous! There are moments when the lighting system really does look near-photo realistic. Hard to believe it's the Unreal Engine, with an added in-house lighting system.

The controls work really well and are combo of Chronicles of Riddick actions with FEAR. Though motion controls on sixaxis are near busted, the balancing works well (if they'd effed that one up I'd be cross!). But trying to disarm or roll into a fall using sixaxis is a pointless endeavour.

My biggest fear is that it's not going live up to its amazing premise. There's only three wasyy this game could fail:

1 - Singleplayer less than 15 hours
2 - Limited, single track environments (the demo is like this, so hopefully that's just to get your used to it.)
3 - No (online or splitscreen) Race mode. There's an option for it in the menu, but that could just be to upload your latest times for a level.

One feature I think would work really well is Co-Op, especially in getting a parcel to its destination, throwing it to your partner to get the best times.

But I know, I'm dreaming.

Also, who is Mirror? Some plot development we've not heard of, or are DICE just bad at punctuation.

STUPID STUPID GOLD-ONLY DEMOS!!!!!

seriously, i don't see why they do this. i'm either at college, or at work, so i never have time for a subscription to live, so i don't bother. and there ain't no way in HELL i'm paying a monthly fee for a demo.

it's times like this i want to start punching people in the face. srsly.
