Mirror's Edge artwork for your fapping delight photo

I am not among the thousands who were prepared to drop their pants and jizz up a storm over a mere minute and fifty-five seconds of concept, but needless to say, Mirror's Edge is theoretically a visually stunning affair backed up by some terrific ideas. It has the potential to be a killer title, so I expect this really pretty artwork to tent a few trousers upon viewing.

The art style is a breath of fresh air after all the depressing greys and browns that this generation has become famous for. While there's nothing wrong with gritty, dirty realism, the bright colors and clean, sleek look of Mirror's Edge's environs is a joy to behold. If the game can play as good as it looks, we're onto a winner -- but that would require it to play damn well.

Time, quite unlike that girl you buried in the backyard, will tell.

@ Peronthious

I predict the "Mirror" in the title implies some kinda flipping between mirror version and non mirror version of our little lady. Notice how she's looking into a mirror on the first pic and it's on her left (technically her right) and it switches around.

Just my little prediction.

I think the Mirror in the title refers to the city. The plot is that the girl (I believe her name is Faith) has to deliver some McGuffin to somewhere. Possibly to "Mirror's" Edge. The name Mirror would kinda fit, looking at the buildings and all.

What's with all the complaining about the lack of screenshots? Can't you just appreciate the fantastic artwork and design?

There's a lot that goes on in the development of a video game before graphics and gameplay footage.

I agree, these shouldn't be watermarked, at least 2 of them are 3 months old and from other sources.

The game looks beautiful but the lead isn't over-sexified and you don't use a gun so watch it flop :(

She's holding a gun in one of the shots, and the gameplay footage trailer showed her using one as well.

So, she's ultra skinny, but can punch an armored guy hard enough that broken bits of metal/plastic fly off his head. I can only imagine thusly that those tattoos signify the infinite power of nanoaugmentation.

She looks so much better in the art than she did in the actual video. I'm wondering if that's because she has expressions here, and was poker faced in the video.

Am I the only one who hates the fact that this game is an FPS?

@ Jimpressionable Sterling - Yay...Pretty colors are fun...

@frozenbabylon - I don't think you could actually call it a FPS so much...I mean, one of the main requirements is that you doo a bunch of shooting, in first person. And since everything I've seen says that guns/shooting is but a small part of the larger pie, i dunno...

I hate first person games that ask me to platform when it isn't done well, or that ask me to adventure in their world when first person doesn't exactly fit...(or as the Wii fanboys/brainderailment might say, not having intuitive controls).

If they make a game that has a lot of puzzle/platforming/adventuring parts, pull the friggin camera back...I hope this game does it right, because it could be great, but I have a feeling there will be more than a few missteps along the way, and we will get mired in a control nightmare...never to ruturn...NEVER!

Jim, come on, this stuff is gorgeous. What the hell else are we to go on? We have nothing more concrete, so I see no problem with getting excited about the promise that we see. It's hard to come by good original IPs, so I'm gonna fucking get a chubby for this, dammit. :) If it fizzles, it fizzles. So what? (And I liked Assassin's Creed, dammit!)

Also, yes, this character is quite beautifully designed and, yes, I do find her attractive. Bite me. I'm not going to build a bloody shrine to her.

P.S.

I was stoked about this game months ago when Edge ran a cover story on it. I was all "OMG, a Dice game that isn't another Battlefield?" And they were all "Totally! We're gonna reinvent spatial perception in first-person games!" And then I was like "You mean so I'll know where my body is and I won't fall off a narrow bridge while running across diagonally and shooting at something overhead, like it always used to happen in Quake 3?" And they were like "Exactly." And so I was all "FAPFAPFAP," and then my local news agent was like "Sir, please put down the magazine and leave the store immediately."

True story!

It has potential...

But I'm not necessarily looking forward to it yet.

More gameplay vids might change that in an instant though!

I forgot to add that it was very nice of you to share these pictures though!

The interesting thing about these concept renderings is that she changes ethnicity in each one. I don't think at that time they had decided on her exact face, or they used different artists.

Ocified, FPS games have come a long way to include what may seem like plaform and puzzle elements, but when done well, stuff like Half Life and Portal are made. The days of boring run and gun FPS game are gone and only exist as multiplayer options.

I'm with LordRegulus, once I read that Edge mag article I knew this game was gonna be special, while off the radar of many. And if it can tip the FPS genre on its head again, giving a more enhanced experiennce than that's good. It will make other developers rethink their FPS games too.

ME is what all FPS games should aspire to be like, with their characters, instead of only getting an animated outstretched arm plus weapon. Long overdue and I'll be buying.

This years Portal perhaps?

@ Gynecologist Cobra:

1. Some of you clearly aren't joking and probably will jerk off to this. That's pretty sad.
2. How does not liking the word "fap" mean I don't get jokes? Fail.
3. Why am I not allowed to draw negative conclusions about a game, but others can draw positive ones? Also, I'm basing my opinion on video and written previews, NOT the concept art.

Way to fail asshole.

If it helps, I think saying "this is going to suck" is just as presumptuous as "this is going to be awesome."
