The first game was amazing, and it stands as one of my favorite games of this generation. It killed me inside when I talked to people who ignored it because 'you didn't get to shoot enough people.' Truly a sad day in gaming.
I still think the console versions are feasts for the eyes and I still have a blast whenever I feel like doing some virtual freerunning!
Cynics will never rob me of my hope for Faith!
I love the game. Truly love it. I even recently bought and played Dead Space 1 and loved it as well. I think EA is making a big mistake if they don't give us a sequel sooner rather than later.
The entire HD console landscape is different now. The PS3 is selling well. The 360 is still selling. Hell, they've managed to make Dead Space work. There's no reason to believe that they wouldn't be able to get people on board with a properly made Mirror's Edge 2.
Just downright shameful...
Of course that they would need to back up with Battlefield games, I am not surprised. I would just expect that SOME DAY they would bring the sequel once they made enough funds to ensure financial issues.
Well... gotta leave DiCE to concentrate on BF:Something3000 I guess. Keep it up industry, seems you didn't suck the WarFPS dry yet!
I rather liked the first one. Sure, it had several glaring flaws, bit overall I had a good time with it and have been hoping to hear more about ME2 for a long while. This wasn't the news I wanted to hear.
The first game nailed some interesting concept, but the on-rail running & cheezy story is not enough.
With that kind of first impression I totally understand EA's decision to " postpone" it, but also, I completetly discredit it. That IP was very innovative, very well designed and had a fantastic gameplay, stopping the dev is no valid repercussion when they nailed the most important basic of that game. Exploring the concept further would be at least more conclusive.
Most notably an emergent gameplay would help. Like in specific maps players can set objectives and races to make with other players to a lott of different spots. And all players can participate or interfere in the races, Like an open, free-running map which would really adhere to the game's prupose. It's just one example.
