Quantcast

Yesterday we told you all about the Square Enix published MindJack, but perhaps our prose was not enough to fully form a concrete idea of what the game would play like. Thank goodness for the invention of moving pictures; they solve this problem easily. Above you will find a peak at the gameplay for the body jumping third-person shooter.

I have to say after reading all about it yesterday, seeing the trailers at E3 and seeing this I am none too impressed. The controls look a clunky (though the sliding while shooting is cool), the action seems a little awkward and the graphics look positively last-gen. If this is Square Enix's best attempt to duplicate a Western shooter through a Japanese developer (Feelplus) it looks like they aren't trying hard enough.

I hope I'm wrong on this one and the game's unique take on multiplayer and shingle-player gameplay really shine.

Ugh, we don't want Ju-on: The Grudge, Ninety Nights Nights 2, or Mindjack.

We want Lost Odyssey 2. Make it happen, Feel Plus, Mistwalker, and Microsoft.

If that's the peak of the shingle-player gameplay, I'd absolutely hate to see the nadir.

Looks like a rip-off of the old Shiny game Messiah. The enemy AI looks horrible.

so why call the game "mind jack," when it centers around the less immature-giggle-worthy "mind hacking?"

This game looks TERRIBLE! Sorry devs, the graphics on level 3 need much more tightening.

Well, I really liked the look of it. Nice bit of cyberpunk there. Really sci-fi level design, made me think of things like 'dues-ex' and 'ghost in the shell'. The rapid-fire of the weapon with huge kick back looked fun. I enjoyed the acid 303 bassline and music playing during the heat of battle. The character models looked fun. One minute there were guards and suddenly these security mech's came trundling forward. At one point the protagonist slides past some chairs to be confronted with a dude wearing a spacesuit and the arrival of flying security mechs. I didn't thin the graphics looked too last-gen either. I thought that the minimal level deisgn looked more like it was aiming for a corporate-utopia.

Agreed the gameplay looks a little clunky, but theres still time.

It seems that when a blog post says "i dont like this game", then the comments get filled with "i dont like this game either". But, when a video gets posted like the warhammer 40k one the other day [which looked like shit] and the blog post says sumthin like "this looks great. cant wait!", then the comments once again conform. All this negativity about a game is coming from the same Destructoid that STILL hypes the releases of 'sonic the hedgehog' and 'transformers'.

think it could be interesting. i mean, at least you can switch the unimpressive main character against someone else. that's something.
@glitznglam-style: we don't want lost odyssey 2. first one wasn't exactly bad, but it wasn't good either.

@munkee, "It seems that when a blog post says 'i dont like this game', then the comments get filled with 'i dont like this game either'."

I'll admit it, I didn't read the post. I just watched the video and made a snap judgement. I am not part of the mob.
