Milk Circuit City for all it has, or just $40 (Update: Circuit City got scared) photo

While rumors of a Nintendo Wii fifty dollar price drop have been brewing since the holidays, nothing has quite yet materialized. We can't imagine they'd do so anytime soon with the high demand on the item. In any case, here's the next best thing -- Circuit City has a $40 off coupon for purchases over $199, so you can score a $209 Wii, get a PS3 for $460, buy 5 next-gen games and kinda get one free, and so on. However you spin it, it's a fat little coupon worth noting.

[Via WiiExperience

(Update from Fronz: This offer no longer exists. Basically, the coupon got dugg and Circuit City got scared they might be helping out customers too much. Sorry, sux 2BU!)

It's sad that where I live in Billings Montana there isn't a Circuit City. =(

Some like it rough, some like it gentle.
^What that has to do about anything? It doesn't. What does it all mean? I dunno.

Man, I could actually find $199 worth of stuff to buy (I need to pick up "Lost Planet" .. I need to get a Wavebird for my Wii... I could use a couple of gamecube games as well.. but I still dont think that would hit up that $200 mark). Good deal though.

I'd love to use it...but I have nothing I NEED to buy...the only thing I could think of would be a lame 360.

Yah, the 360 is totally lame. There's absolutely no good games on it and it's a worthless system with no potential.

On a similar note, water, oxygen, really hot chicks, bacon, and fudge chocolate brownies must all be lame too.

I didn't say there was absolutely no good games on it. But paying $360 (HAHA look at that! paying one dollar for each digit with this deal) for 2 or 3 games isn't exactly the greatest in my eyes.

I was in Circuit City just 30 minutes ago. Their 360 selection sucked balls. All they had were a dozen copies of Madden, dozen copies of Gun, American Wasteland, 8 copies of Lost Planet, and 8 copies of Dead Rising. My enthusiasm for LP cooled immensely after all the so-so reviews came out. I'm saving myself for Crackdown. If crackdown sucks, THEN I'll buy Lost Planet.

I scored mucho in XBL Gold cards, Marketplace points cards, a play and charge kit, a discounted NHL2K7, and some PC games. Not bad at all.

Too bad this coupon will be killed and the promotion stopped long before it expires. It does say in the fine print that this promotion can be stopped at anytime...

Even if it does say excluding gaming hardware, chances are the employee checking you out won't read that part.

Yeah, I found a couple of copies in pdf form floating around online. Apparently the original didn't mention anything about video games and they updated it to say video game hardware excluded. Then they just took down the coupon all together. Supposedly they nullified the coupons for some reason or another but I figure if you hurry up and go you use it the store might let it slide. 40 dollars off a console or hd-dvd drive for the 360 is a nice chunk of change.

Ah ha ha ha ha.

The link now goes to a page that says the following:

We apologize for any convenience or disappointment this may cause you, our valued customer.

That's right. Apologize to us for any possible convenience you may have caused us.

It's really quite simple...

It's called bait-and-switch.

And it USED to be illegal.

There is a word for people who spend HOURS surfing sites like Cheap Ass Gamer to find a "deal" on a game "marked down" from $65 to the low, low price of $62.99, and then they turn in another used game they just paid $65 for two months before for $7.

Suckers.
