Midway's TNA iMPACT! game gets a Web site

Midway's TNA iMPACT! game gets a Web site photo
     Xbox 360

TNA and WWE may be two completely separate wrestling entities, but they both happened to reveal the first screens and information about their respective videogames yesterday. THQ told us about WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, and Midway did the same thing with the TNA game they’re developing, TNA iMPACT!.

Midway sent along a (really short) press release with two screenshots of the game; you can view them after the jump and below, respectively. There’s no word on whether they’re from the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version. Either way, the screens look good — and I dare say, better than SvR 2009. Eight more images, along with a trailer and the game’s official forums, are available at the newly launched Web site, www.tnagame.com.

I stopped watching wrestling when I was in high school for one reason or another, so I haven’t really been keeping up with the times. The last time I was really into wrestling, the WWE was still the WWF. Man, I miss the Rock ‘N’ Sock Connection... However, my colleague Gameboi is a big fan of wrestling, so he knows what he’s talking about when he says, “TNA is where the once great wrestlers go to die. Even I can't watch it.” Hm. Perhaps the game will be better than the real thing, then...

You’ll be able to beat the crap out of your friends in TNA iMPACT! this summer on the PS3, 360, Wii, and PS2.

MIDWAY LAUNCHES WEBSITE FOR TNA IMPACT!

Today Midway announced the launch of the TNA iMPACT™ Web site www.tnagame.com. The Web site is packed with the newest videos, screenshots and up-to-date information on the highly-anticipated game based on the fastest-growing professional wrestling brand in the world. The TNA iMPACT! video game is scheduled to ship this summer for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Nintendo Wii™ and PlayStation 2.

TNAgame.com will also be home to the official TNA iMPACT™ forums that will give TNA fans a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the game.

Look for more information about the TNA iMPACT! video game to be unveiled soon at Midway's annual Gamers Day event in Las Vegas.

Wrestling games after No Mercy don't exist to me.

Hope this turns out good. I need a good alternative to the WWE games.I watch TNA occasionally and while they got a lot of young guys, it truly is where all the old guys go to die. Kurt Angle, Nash, Jarret, Raven, Team 3D, the list goes on and on.

Having said that, I bet the game is even worse.

Back when I watched TNA on pay-per-view with my friends the only matches worth watching were the X-Division ones. Everything else was like Gameboi said, a retirement home for washed up wrestlers.

The early version of this game that I played was not bad and showed some promise. We'll see soon enough.

Um... I think Cheeburga is a fan of wrestling from that comment?

Face, I'm almost in agreement with you.

I actually like the X-Division guys, but Ring Of Honor is better for actual wrestling. TNA is still better than 'I'm gonna have HHH wrestle big show's arm at wrestlemania for 40 minutes' WWE.

Yeah, the X-division stuff is one of the reasons why I still check out TNA every once in a while, and if they can capture that high flying goodness in the game I might be more interested in this. And for me, with any wrestling game, I wouldn't care so much about who is in it, as long as they get the fighting engine right..

Except Sharkboy and Curry Man

balth wins at life for namedropping ROH.

I dunno if I'm looking forward to this. It looks smooth, and it looks fast, but it's TNA. As long as you can have Fish Market Street Fights, then I'll buy it.

I heard that the default setting for number of run-ins per match is set to 4.

Gameboi is pretty much right on the money. If there is an option to turn off Mike Tenay and Don West's sure to be horrible commentary, then I might rent it.

Although the wrestlers are good, TNA is shitty.

I haven't watched wrasslin in 10 years or played a game since No Mercy, but is that "Abyss" guy in one of the screens really as much of a blatant Kane rip off? (despite not following wrasslin forever, I do somehow posess the knowledge that Kane no longer wears a mask and can speak now or something)

@odhen I've always thought of Abyss as more of a Mankind ripoff, but yeah those screens look a little Kaney

I love playing wrestling games with 3 other people. Multiplayer in them is always so fun.

Abyss is a cross between Mankind and Masked Kane, but all big guys have the same moveset anyhow. That means chokeslam, big boot, and sidewalk slam. Abyss's finisher is Black Hole Slam which is like a giant spinning sidewalk slam thingy. Yeah, not an original gimmick, but he's not in the WWE. Not that they are original at much...

I keep up with both WWE and TNA mainly for ghits and shiggles (Also I'm a big Y2J fan, but that's because he's the most entertaining mofo on there minue some of the Gen DX stuff). As I see it, WWE has better older and classics while TNA has better younger and some technical stars. I will admit that even though WWE has some shitty storylines, TNA has even shitter storylines. Oh yeah... and TNA having Sharkboy become a broke, poor, skinny Stone Cold rip wasn't too smart either.

I mention this because I mainly get WWE games for making my own character and going through storymode. If I have to go through TNA storylines... I might have to pour bleach in my eyes just to deal with it. I will at least agree with Samit in saying it does look a tad better than SvR 2009.

If only the good parts of TNA and the good parts of WWE could come together without any of the bad stuff... then wrestling would be awesome again.

As is, it's worth a good laugh at some of the terrible things that go on. Also, WWE's Santino Marella is fucking hilarious.

Haha! Wrestling went out the door for me after ECW was bought by WWF. But rock on for those that have fun with it still, its all about having fun.

Where is the UFC game at these days though? I desperately need a good solid MMA game. I'd love to match up Anderson Silva against Chuck Lidell or some other such crazyness. Quinton Jackson vs Sean Sherk, lol.

Fire. Pro. Wrestling. Returns.

Excellent Shoot Fighting/MMA engine in it.

Chuck Lidell vs Stone Cold makes me happy.
