Midway confirms Jax and more for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe photo

[NOTE: The above image is NOT from the game; it is from an older MK title.]

We posted the video and The Joker render from Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe earlier today. But hidden within the wall of text that came along with the pretty image and moving picture was confirmation of characters for the upcoming fighter.

While some were announced during a panel at last week's Comic-Con (The Joker, Kitana, and Green Lantern, among them), the announcement of MK veteran Jax seems to be a new addition. This brings us to a total of 14 revealed characters (DC universe characters are listed in red; MK universe is listed in blue):

  • Superman
  • Batman
  • The Flash
  • Green Lantern
  • The Joker
  • Catwoman
  • Captain Marvel
  • Scorpion
  • Sub-Zero
  • Shang Tsung
  • Liu Kang
  • Kitana
  • Sonya Blade
  • Jax
Midway told us at E3 they were planning to include 20 fighters in the game when it ships this fall, so that leaves us with four more characters yet to be revealed. The balance of MK and DC characters should be about even, as well. So who does that leave us with? Wonder Woman? Johnny Cage? Who do you still want to see in MK vs. DC Universe?

Jax looks like a combination of 50 Cent and Cole Train from Gears of War. WTF?

Note, that is NOT a render from the new game. REPEAT: Not from the MK vs. DCU.

Jax was confirmed at Comic-Con with all the other characters. As a matter of fact, he was shown before Joker, Kitana, and Green Lantern. http://youtube.com/watch?v=TB4wSigsTjU

And that pic isn't what he looks like in MK Vs. DC, that pic is from Deadly Alliance.

Looks like Jax is amping up the growth hormone usage, look at the pythons on the dude. Am I the only who thinks the MK Franchise should have died like, oh I don't know, after the last installment of crap they gave us.

I think Congress should investigate Mortal Kombat for performance enhancers. If Jax is hitting the HGH that hard, shouldn't his head be bigger.

Alright, they need to add Lobo to this game. Why add DC characters if you're not going to put Lobo in!

My maths might be wrong here but I thought 20 - 14 = 6. Not 4.

Nick can't count! :P

14 confirmed of a supposed 20 character roster. So, Nick, how is it that there are only 4 left to confirm? Wouldn't that be 18? Huh?

Kidding, I'm just busting your balls.

Why so few characters? Seems like previous MK's had at least 30 or so. I would hate to see someone's favorite get left out.

Any mention of Lobo and Darkseid? Omega beam fatality for the win.

Please tell me that I'm not the only one who for a moment thought that the text in the bottom left said "Black."

Holy crap man, just holy crap...

Yeah, won't there be 6 more characters? Also, maybe I went color blind, but those all look like black text to me.

I really hope they decide to include more than 20 characters. DC characters I would like to see:

Lex Luthor, Two-Face, Swamp Thing, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman

MK characters I would like to see:

RAIDEN, Johnny Cage, Kabal, Kano, Kung Lao, Reptile, Baraka, Smoke

I used to like Jax back in MKII/III, but... well someone dropped a big ol' stereotype ball on this character. In the last MK he is dressed like a bloody gangster and his special weapon is a bloody AK 47 (Or comparable gun).

:: shakes head ::

Pretty sure that's Jax's alternate costume from Deadly Alliance, he looks really old in that game for some reason. Jax was pretty pathetic looking in Deadly Alliance and Armageddon since it was the same character model.

Heh, it's just like Street Fighter, the old is new again. Years of increasingly more bizarre characters have led to a return of the ones that were actually financially successful.

Maybe I'm mistaken or I missed out on some Crossover, but isn't CAPTAIN MARVEL, the Cosmic hero from the MARVEL Universe. If that's the case why is he in a game featuring DC characters.

No, Captain Marvel (aka Shazam) is a DC character, the name is confusing I know, but he's definite not a Marvel character.

Marvel has a character named Ms. Marvel though.

I'd personally like to see adult robin using a nut punch manuver on the joker! I like johnny cage as much as anyone else but, every mk after mk2 made johnny cage look somewhat like a robotic manequin. how bout beast boy his special attacks would rule. let's throw some titans into the mix.. and hopefully a few hidden costumes like the titans could all be adult characters but robin could have a costume change to be like nightwing for instance. someone gotta be listening. what about maybe another character like jason todd in hush outfit with variant costume changes. think of the possibilities. And where's bane?> he could be bad assed. the cyborg superman would make a good villain as well. sorry for my incoherrent rambling. but sooo many awesome characters are being over looked.
