Midnight Riders teaser site found: Left 4 Dead 2 DLC? photo

Those who have played Left 4 Dead 2's "Dark Carnival" campaign will likely know of The Midnight Riders. They are a fictional rock band that Ellis seems to be rather fond of, and the campaign's finale involves the Survivors fighting on a stage set up for a Riders concert. It's an incredible moment, and we've just discovered a brand new Web site all about the band!

All that's been revealed so far is a picture of the band with the word "Coming Soon" written underneath. We have no idea yet what it could be about. It may just be a viral site, but who knows? Perhaps it could be a whole new campaign with the players taking on the role of the Riders themselves! How awesome would that be?

We're going to contact Valve to try and get a comment. We know the site is officially registered to Valve, so it's a genuine thing. We just need to know what it means!

[Thanks, James!]

Shit, I don't even have the game yet and now I'm also hyped to get my hands on it's possible, maybe DLC. Again I say, shit.

It would be awesome if it were part of a 4 on 4 mode where you're competing against other survivors somehow...

Perhaps they're Valve's own band, like Blizzard's LVL80 Elite Tauren Chieftain.

Is Valve only capable of doing things that are epic?

This is why Valve is my favorite dev. They not only put shameless advertising in their games (L4F hats in TF2), but also on the Midnight Riders's Poster they gave a shoutout to my hometown Gulfport, MS.

Fun Fact: Gulfport, MS does have a colosseum.

It's probably just a fan project, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. Still, it would be awesome if it ended up being a new campaign or new characters. And playing as a biker-esque rock band from the south would be Skynrdtastic.

Still, I can't help but feel like they're missing an opportunity for a Francis cameo. (As we all know, Francis is the king of all survivors. Fact.)

I agree wholeheartedly with Francis being the king of all survivors.

If you can play as these guys... Valve just won over a reluctant purchase.

As cool as it looks I really hope a TF2 update comes out before this. L4D development drains too many resources from my one true multiplayer FPS love.

"They are a fictional rock band that Ellis seems to be rather fond of,"

And Coach. The first time I played through Dark Carnival it was always Coach talking about them. "I bought all their albums, even the crappy ones later on.", "Oh it's been so long since I've got to see them in concert", he starts singing their song when he goes near the microphone, "If they're anything like I remember them, their fireworks show will signal the chopper pilot." and after the pilot arrived Rochelle comments "Whaddya know, Coach's crazy idea actually worked."

I don't know about having even more new characters as DLC now. I'm just starting to warm up to the new survivors.

I haven't beaten a single L4D2 campaign yet and I still really really want this. I'm digging the design of these 4 dudes.

Also, I agree with Sharpless. Francais is the greatest survivor so far. Followed closely by Uncle Phil.

Yeah, the website URL is on the posters in Dark Carnival. I was right about to check the site, but you beat me to the punch. Damn you, Destructoid.
Oh, and there are actually five members of the band, according to the posters in the stadium. Not sure which one's missing from the group on the site, but something tells me he's the one that's not immune.

We all know Valve. It won't be DLC. It'll be either Left 4 Dead 3 or L4D2: Midnight Riders Expansion. Which will cost 60 bucks at stores when you could tack it on for 20-30.

Fuckin' ODST. I hate Bungie too.

We're not talking Microsoft here. Valve's been plenty fucking generous with free DLC for many of their games.
