Microsoft is taking a page out of Sony's book this week by promising that things will happen next year, making sure not to give us any hints. Claiming that it has a glittery bag full of unannounced games for 2009, MS is promising that the future is bright for the Xbox 360.
Microsoft's UK head of gaming and entertainment Stephen McGill told tales of "great stuff" heading our way: "Well I know a lot of the games coming out from us and our third parties. Most of them, in fact, have not been announced because everyone's very focused on what's out for Christmas. So it would do our third party partners a disservice for me to announce their great line-ups before they're ready to.
"So obviously we've announced things like Halo Wars coming out in the Spring, Halo 3: Recon later next year, Resi Evil 5 is coming to the platform, (I'm) really excited about that. So I think we're very focused on what's coming out for Christmas, we've talked about things coming out early next year. Very soon at some point we'll have the exclusive content for Grand Theft Auto on Xbox 360. So there's lots of great stuff coming in 2009 that people know about. Lots more, I'm sure that they don't know about."
McGill claims that we can "absolutely" expect surprises next year, although if we're expecting them, are they surprising!? QUANDARY! Anyway, what kind of nice surprises would you like from the Xbox Fairy next year? Personally, I'd love to see Shane Kim in a spandex thong, punching a badger in its balls. That would surprise me.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Any of them would be a surprise at this point...
Bet they're going to announce the xbox 720, though.
How about announcing XB360s that don't get the red ring of death? Everyone I know, friends and family, who own a XB360 have had a RROD. No, I am not exaggerating that for emphasis or dramatic purposes. EVERY, SINGE ONE has had an RROD, including one who got his XB360 only a few months ago -- brand new. One of my nieces had to send hers back three times.
Money issues aside, the RRoD is the only reason why I don't have an XB360. My PS3 and Wii have been rock solid, and I'm not going to give MS any money until the RRoD is a distant memory.
Make the 360 as reliable as the PS3 maybe?
Big surprise? The 360 is just a test for Sega's new console,
I bought my first 360 soon after the launch, sold it to my brother and it's still fine, I got myself a elite 3 months ago and it runs perfectly...
I thought they solved the rrod problem mid 07, didn't they?
