Finally, on top of having the "highest rated content ever" and being the best "on a price per value basis," Mattrick thinks that the Xbox 360 can have a decade long shelf life like the PS2 has.
"We’re at a point now where we’re eight years in, and there’s more resources, more third-party support, more retail support and more consumer support. And it’s very probable that this will be a longer life cycle."

I agree with my fellow posters on this one. First, I really love my 360 and it definitely gets the most use compared to my Wii. I don't have a PS3 b/c I'm not retarded (though some doctors will argue with me). Secondly, SNES FTW. Also, here's hoping we have a longer console life. The last XBOX's was way too short.

I will admit that the current deal with the 360 is good. But I think microsoft is forgetting in order to dominate the gaming market, you have to sway Japan more than America...and that's a race they're slowly catching up on.
Once 360 really gets a gooood solid amount of games that aren't sports and FPS, then we'll put it near PS2. but as for PS3 and Wii standards, it's easily ass raping.

I have to agree, the whole highest rated content thing is a little...stupid but still overall his statements are true. But somehow the Wii is doing really well with the largely untapped demographics although I'm not really sure what they could be playing besides Wii Sports and maybe Galaxy.

xbox 360: $350. small 20 gig drive, 2x usb, Some have hdmi some don’t. DVD drive. But now comes the nickel and dimming. $50 for xbox live network, $100 for wifi adapter, $175 for add on HD DVD player. so for $675 you have to pay to get it to match even the $399 ps3 in features and still have 20 gigs less space. Now tell me, is it really cheaper? oh and get a bonus, it’s called the red ring of death, yes 40% of the xbox 360’s sold will break and brick and you will have to wait up to 3 months for it to be repaired. This is why i will not probably ever buy a 360. I hate microsoft. The 360 is last gen, last gen dvd only, so no big huge games with big huge textures. only 3 cores compared to 7 on ps3, smaller hard drives, and no wifi built in, for god’s sake even the wii has built in wifi. You have to pay for online gaming, it’s free for the wii and the ps3. stupid. The 360 is a fools gaming console when compared to the ps3 or the wii. Sorry, but it breaks, and lack so many key options that are next gen.

Ps3: $499 for the 80 gig with free network, software backwards compat and memory card slots and 4x usb plus blueray, wifi, hdmi.
Ps3: &499 for the 60 gig that does it all and has it all. full back wards compatible.
Look at it this way, on the ps3 you are spending 200 on the gaming console and 200 on wifi, blueray, free network for a lifetime. This is a great deal.
On a price per value rank the wii is king. Can you buy an xbox360 for $250 and resell it used for $400?

360 does have some good games. The problem is variety. How many 360 games don't involve some rugged soldier with a big gun killing stuff? I don't have time to play every game or a lot of time in general so I like to have a good variety to what I play. The Wii probably does have less good games in total but they have a better variety.
Yeah some decent games, for a 2nd soon 3rd year next gen system. sony and wii are catching up in terms of sheer titles sooner then later.
You'd think after all that patting themselves on their backs that they would have said "Now it wont rrod or ruin the shit out of your 60 dollar games !!" but they didnt and its been 8 weeks since I have gotten to play my 360, (thank the lord for M$ repairs and shipping) Christ if there was a service that could do it where I lived..even having to pay to fix it, at least I know it could be done correctly and not haveing to send it in for 3rd fucking time.

The PS3, I think, Is a better value out of all of them. It's still too expensive. It's kind of like Costco. They sell you a box of about 20 pizza pocket meals. Now, you're paying a lot, but you're getting much more for less than if you bought them individually.The problem is sometimes we don't want all that bullshit and we just want to eat.
That's what the PS3 is like, and The XBOX is like that one Hot Pocket. The Wii...the Wii is half of that Hot Pocket. Bite Sized.

let alone, you get 3 different choices of xbl accounts outside the 1 year (although the 1 year + extra month is best, you have the 3 month and 1 month.) But the wifi adaptor...that's something the need to work on either building in or cutting the price even a bit. But I guess they figure you're spendin 350 already, 100 more wouldn't hurt.

With today's addition of Divx & Xvid playing, the 360 definitely got a lot cooler. But once/as long as the PS3 gets the same relatively quickly, I'll be back to loving my PS3 more.

b)I had to send my xbox back and it was back within a couple of weeks. I don't know where you're getting the three months. I guess if you consider it factual to take the worst case reported scenario and then rattle it off as if it's the norm or an average, that's fine.
c)Sure, you pay for Xbox Live. About $4 per month. Big f'king deal. Especially when you consider that it's far and away the best online gaming service available. You actually bring up the fact that Wii has online functionality for free as if that's comparable? What a joke.
d)There is no guarantee that the Playstation Network and online play will always be free.
e)Whether the console itself is a better deal financially is irrelevant. With the 360, you get to *choose* whether you want an HD-DVD player, larger hard drive, wifi, etc. instead of having it all in the box (and added to the price) whether you want it or not.
f)When it's all said and done, you still have to have GAMES. You seem to forget that this is the most important element of a gaming system. Not whether it'll play all your movies, or alphabetize your mp3's by the color of the lead singer's pubes, or do any other unnecessary home entertainment functions. If you're going to attempt to say that the PS3's game lineup is superior to 360's thus far, then you are truly a jackass, my friend.
I agree that game-wise, it's the best deal, but overall I am still going to give it to the PSTriple with the new "lower" end price. It will eventually have some nice games, but right out of the box it's a blu-ray player. To get the HD-DVD add-on for the 360 you need to drop another $179 and end up paying more then you would for a PS3.. But hey, you can't really go wrong with either one. Right now the 360 owns, in the future I'm sure the gap will close a little and with the inclusion of the blu-ray, the PS3 gets my vote for best package.. Just wait another year or so..

360 is mostly pc ports, not really a console game box.
ps3 has the pc ports + the true gaming of a console, games like uncharted, ratchet and clank, little big planet, mgs4. This is where the 360 falls flat on its face, no AAA titles in console style gaming games. Only in First Person Shooter pc port crap. The 360 is just like vista, broken and over priced.

And the gamestop local to me, the guys even say they get just as many falcon chipsets broken. that it made new problems.
What my biggest gripe with all the positive 360 press is, i don't how good the pc fps style games are, how can a system with such a high failure rate be even considered a good purchase, because in any other kind of commerce, this would spawn a total recall. Yet the press thinks the 360 is so great. yet people like me refuse to buy it, because we actually do research on the products we buy. We are not stupid shoppers like most of the xbox 360 community.

I don't understand people argument with variety on the 360. Yes their is alot of good fps on 360. But there is also tons of awesome XLA games, not to mention some rpg's like masseffect, oblivion. to counter ps3 people...clearly noone cares about blu ray ...it's just that thing that ps3 people say it's such a good value because they have blue ray, and they can make games that have more memory on them, except they never will. Get what you want, I like my 360, though it is newer to me and I need to amass more titles with the thing. Us gamers know what we want, and we stop and nothing to belittle the other people's purchases. But to a parent who is purchasing a system for their crazy child, they don't care what the kid really wants, they want to know what is cheapest in price for cost of entry. Considering that is the Wii right now, not to mention the ridiculous marketing success Nintendo has had with it, that's become for the second year in a row the hot item of the holiday. So yeah, maybe the 360 is the best value for what you are paying, you still are paying more for the cost of entry.

The 360 has good games. So does the wii. But i think the ps3 is the only one that delivers it all in one package with hd movies and storage, with built in stuff and free network. Ps3 is the better deal, you get a web browser on ps3 as well.
