Microsoft's Game Room looks pretty damn neat, although there are some things which have lessened its appeal recently. Here's another possible one: Game Room is rated "E 10+."
What this means, according to a Microsoft representative, is that games which would garner a rating of "T" or "M" will not be made available on the service. No Mortal Kombat or any other sort of graphically violent game would stand a chance.
It's not a huge deal, considering how many classic arcade games wouldn't be considered inappropriate for anyone prior to the 1990's, but there will be some gaps in the catalog as a result. As long as I can get Crystal Castles, it doesn't bother me too much. I guess Death Race 2000 is right out, though.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
(PS- I know they won't. I just feel like stating my love for that game over and over.)
That said, I'm waiting to see the scope of this whole endevor. I want to see more than just rehashed XBLA content. Give me some Captain America or Xmen arcade games, or Pole Position. Simpsons is always good too.
If all I get is the re-classic versions of existing XBLA games, I will officially write this off as an epic fail.
What I want is access to the gorgeous 2D games of the 90s. Even though I *could* emulate these games, I'd LOVE to play them on my TV with a proper controller. The Simpsons, Spin Masters (this game owns, trust my childhood), TMNT, Captain America, X-Men (thanks for reminding me of those, RenagadePanda), Cowboys of Moo-Mesa, and other shit like that. THAT, Microsoft, is where your money lies. Good luck.
They mostly play halo and mw2
FUCK
First you shoot a paralysis inducing gas, run up and kick victim off structure which cripples them, then you eat your victims alive in their vegetative state. And for all of these atrocities you are rewarded and promoted.
Degeneracy, thy name is Bobble Bubble.
personally the whole "virtual arcade" idea doesn't appeal to me because it's not a real arcade, it's just home with less trolling and more colours. coupling this with the news that now many of the games i had fond memories of as a child in arcades was from these violent games. means that it fails to pull me in with it's setup or nostalgia.
unless they somehow beam a star wars podracer machine into my living room. then i may be a tad more interested than i am now. but just a bit
