The corporate pissing contest continues as Sony and Microsoft bicker like children some more. Last week, Sony accused Microsoft of "peddling add ons" with the Xbox 360, claiming that the system was too expensive if you wanted the full set of features. Naturally, Microsoft has bitten back, continuing the world's least fun flame war.
"Our strategy from the beginning was to have multiple SKUs with a very flexible offering so the customer can choose the experience that they want," claims MS man David Dennis. "If you don't need a hard drive, you're not forced to have one. If you don't need Wi-Fi, you're not forced to pay for one.
"The strategy of having a console that is $200 more expensive that has features that people don't potentially need or want but have to pay for—looking at [Sony's] sales numbers—I'd say it's probably not the winning strategy at this point, especially given the current economic situation."
Oh ouch. Microsoft, you saucy devil you.
Sony is expected to respond by giving Microsoft a wedgie after school. Rumors that lunch money would also be taken have not yet been substantiated, but we're not ruling out such a development.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

I miss the Genesis/SNES wars...
sony needs to quit bringing up the 360 and just go for the balls. lower the price, more adds for all the exclusives, start paying for exclusive content. microsoft does and thus far it has only hurt the ps3. focus on us, the buyers, not the competition unless you are ahead. i don't see nintendo going all middle school and tossing mud. so far its like they've humbled themselves. they know success is a give and take option and haven't had constant success. win one, loss one. sony lost one, it don't mean the end.
"Some muthafuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill".
I mean you can say a lot of things about their products, but lets face it,
Microsoft know how to sell.
there, all fixed.
