(granted, some people might be on their 8th Xbox due to RRoD's! heyooo!)
Then again, it was someone from china, so I'm not gonna bother to try to understand.
I mean its almost like entities that have no claim to the internet think they can control the internet!
I know right!?! Oh wait...
Nintendo called it nintendo 64 because it was 64-bit.
Microsoft is bringing gaming back to the good old days...8-bit.
And so it begins.
If you have zero claim to the IP of the domain name, then you're going to be forced by international law to hand that domain over to the property holders. Squatter's have no rights in these cases.
It may seem like this is another case of "big business wins again" but why should ANYONE have to shell out cash because someone else decided they would snatch up a name you own first? Domain squatters don't deserve a cent.
Thats kind of obvious too Dale, the metro dash is a lower form of windows 8, or what window's 8 will run like, and theres going to be much more XBL integration with windows 8, since they're pushing for massive cross platform-ness (metro-style everywhere, smartglass, ect).
So, specially when Windows 8, is released, Xbox 8 is going to means *something* even if indirectly. Highly doubt that its the name of the next xbox.
Xbox 8 - 8th generation of video game consoles (counting Pong as 1 and Atari 2600 as 2)
Wii U - Uh...
BBWA! Is certainly a blanket statement for what happened, and yeah domain squatters suck.
However, there have been outright tragedies involving domain names and arbitration, and its too easy a forum as it has shown in the past to side with companies vs individuals REGARDLESS of the case. Some of the rulings literally read "they gave us more money, screw you LOL, E LAW FTW!!!1"
Hence the instant backlash. Plus, common M$? You know, evil empire, etc.

Using a whois search the cyber squatter took the domains on February 3rd 2012 - 1 day after the rumour first hit.
