Microsoft nabs a Halo Kinect domain, brain explodes photo

A domain name of KinectHalo.com was purchased by Microsoft. CVG says the purchase happened in the summer of last year? Does that make sense? Whatever. It looks like it's going to be a thing.

I can't imagine what this would look like as a game, though. It's a good thing that this isn't my problem to figure out. I got the shooting, aiming and grenade tossing figured out in my head, but I have no flippin' idea how you'd do character movement. March in place? Lean forward?

Maybe it's 343 Industries' job to figure this out. They're supposedly at work on a "new high profile Halo experience." Halo Kinect game or no, it'll be interesting to see what they're working on.

Would you be down for a Halo controlled by Kinect?

Wouldn't it be best to use a controller and supplement it with Kinect movements?

It would need a Move like controller for it to work. I could understand taking cover and aiming with out one, but like you said, movement, along with pulling the trigger (Can it recognize your finger pulling the trigger?) to fire.

A regular Halo game with enhanced Kinect features, such as voice commands, head tracking and squad-control using hand gestures would be a pretty amazing thing, IMO.
I hope that's what they're going for. Not really keen on a Kinect-only Halo game...

Why the hell not, I need something to use kinect with before it gets bored and tries to kill me.

Unfortunately games that come out on kinect will be kinect only until it's been out for a year or so and then when more money needs to be made they'll start allowing games to use kinect features and not be limited to only kinect.

So when will they release the new Wii rip-off controller to make this even remotely feasible?

I'm at least interested to see what they come up with, but with my limited mental capacity, I'm unable to make this work in my head.

I'm wondering if this is even going to be an FPS? Maybe another Halo Wars-style RTS that utilizes Kinect controls?

and now back to the intellectually-challenged fanboys......

It could just be MS pre-emptively buying a domain name that uses two words that are rather important franchises for the Xbox, but that's a dull thought really.

So yeah, I'd love to see a Kinect Halo game. No idea how it'd work, but that's what they pay game designers for, I guess.

As an RTS, this could be OK. As some sort of Halo Waypoint-esque feature, this could be OK.

But as an FPS? I don't even think they'd try that.

Ugh.

Bungie did so well with their swan song, why ruin it like this? Outside of Dance Central and Child of Eden, I haven't seen a single Kinect title that looks anywhere near what could be considered fun. I have yet to try them, but I just sincerely hope they don't fuck up with this.

I agree with kailsabin99 - nobody thinks about Kinect enhanced controller usage. Call out things while playing, lean to control aim... it would work!

An RTS with a button you hold in your off hand to confirm choices. Your hand would essentially be a mouse pointer and certain gestures could bring up different menus. It has potential.

Maybe this will be the first game to fully utilize Kinect+Controller. If it was done right, it could pave the way for more games to go this route. I really enjoy Kinect, but I don't want Kinect-only games from established franchises. I am looking at you too, Gear of War...

Has no one considered this might just be a preemptive move, just in case Microsoft wants to make a Halo? They wouldn't want to find out some one already registered the domain. So this confirms nothing. Hell, it could just be Microsoft trying to drum up excitement for Kinect by getting people to tell all their friends that Halo is coming out for Kinect so they rush and buy it.

I think if one has doubts about his status as a fanboy, all should be removed at the point you decry a possible game as horrible based entirely on a two word domain name.

@Neroisonfire: Jayson & Sofik trolling together would be an unstoppable force to be reckon with. One idiot trashes PS3 posts and the other idiot trashes Xbox360 posts... put them together and no post will be left untouched.

On a more important matter, this Halo game could be an odd Rail-Gun-Shooter. Or maybe they're going for something new altogether, like Forza Kinect.

Maybe it could be an on-rails shooter like Time Crisis or House Of The Dead although I still can't see how Kinect would recognise you pulling the trigger to fire.

Nice call guys, an on-rails shooter certainly seems like a possibility

Haha I'm probably the only one out here that would be interested in Halo on-rails. These days the only time my Wii gets played is when I get a jones for some House of the Dead or RE chronicles.

And the domain name was secured last summer? I wonder how much of a priority this is getting. I would think a Kinect game aimed for the immensely popular Halo franchise would get a decent amount of hype to get us excited.

I'm guessing rail shooter in the Halo Universe...why?

(Oh I recall, to sell a ton of subpar rail shooter games @ $60 a pop to Halo fanatics....and be able to claim that a AAA franchise has a Kinect game, right).
