Microsoft goes Xbox 360 bundle crazy this holiday photo

It's not the holidays unless Microsoft decides to toss some Xbox 360 bundles together, is it?

This year, the $299 Xbox 360 Elite Holiday Bundle comes with an Elite console, as well as LEGO Batman: The Videogame and Pure. The second bundle is not a console, but rather an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Game Pack for $59.99. It comes with a black wireless 360 controller and five Xbox LIVE Arcade games -- Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, Lumines LIVE!, Bomberman LIVE!, and Ms. Pac-Man.

The console bundle is shipping to retailers right now, and should be available soon. The Controller Game Pack ships this November, and considering controllers are $49.99 by themselves, is a pretty damned good deal.

Get two free games with the regular price of an Elite? Sweet deal.

It doesn't really help in here in Canada when this 360 bundle will cost $329, the Wii now costs $220, but the PS3 is the same price as it is stateside.

360 controllers are NEVER $50 except at Gamestop and other retailers.

Go to Amazon and buy a 360-for-windows controller for $30 any day of the week and you get the added bonus of a wireless adapter so you can use the controller on your PC as well as regular ole 360 functionality.

I've been meaning to get a 360, but I don't like shooter or racing games, are there any bundles that would work for me?

I'd say that bundle would work sheerly for the fact that the Lego series games tend to be fantastically well designed for "kiddie" games

That Arcade bundle comes with some of the best Arcade games on XBLA. Just replace Ms. Pac Man with Championship Edition and Lumines with Peggle and you'll be smooth sailing.

Still say they could have made some better bundles

Controller bundle rocks. Too bad I pretty much own all of those XBLA games already.

Don't replace Lumines.
That shit is crack.

I agree these bundles are really crappy.

TERRIBLE choice of bundled games.

You drop the price to $299. A couple weeks later you offer a $50 rebate. Now you go back to $299 and add in two games. I like how aggressive Microsoft is with this, but they need to pick a sku/pricing strategy and go with it. They are all over the place in a short period of time.

That controller bundle is actually pretty appealing to me seeing as I own none of those 4 and would like to play at least 3 of them (sorry Ms. Pacman).

@Buddyleej: how is this confusing? You either get a 50 dollar rebate and no games, or pay the extra 50 and get a solid platformer and a sports game. Both of which will likely appeal to kids or even some adult gamers.

The Elite bundle is absolute shit, I don't even know who could possibly think those two games made a good combination. The controller bundle sounds pretty sweet though.

Bleh.

I still wish that if MS would put out all these Live pushing Wlite bundles they'd at least offer a discount on the wifi adapter.

That or you can do what I did and find a $20 one that works with the original Xbox and realize it works on the 360. BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY!

@Electrium: Batman or skating fans?

Hell, Lego Batman on DS is one of my favorite games.

@Midgetsnowman I didn't say it was confusing. I said they need to figure out a good pricing/sku and stick with it. Potentially at some point we will have 4 xbox 360 skus on the market. Arcade, Elite, Elite holiday bundle, and MW "limited" edition. Might be ok with us, but I guarantee this fall you will see people in stores just staring at the 360s not sure what to buy.

@ Spike-

How are those shitty games? At worst, they are "okay". Pure in particular got great reviews.

How can you hate on Lego Batman? If you have a wife/girlfriend or kids, they love that game...ooooooh. I think I just found the root of this Lego Batman hate.
Though Pure...um...yeah, not that awesome. I think they should've put something like Fable or ODST in there. This is the Elite bundle, after all, pretty sure people buying it are getting it to play FPS. Or, even better, put a game and like a 3 month live card in there.
And I retract my Lumines comment, for some reason I got it confused with another game. Durr. Still, I love me some Peggle.
So I take it the Arcade version isn't getting a Holiday bundle? Because that's pretty lame. Granted, the one last year came with Superstar Tennis (barf), but the Arcade disc got lots of use...

I gotta say, as someone slightly interested in buying a 360, this still isn't working for me. Why not just throw in a free year of XBL? $299 with free year of XBL, $50 rebate, wi-fi, wireless controller, headset, and we got a deal.

I need wi-fi :/

Meh, still don't want one.

I think the only bundle that would tempt me into buying the shoddy box-o-fail to sit next to my PS3 would be...

Elite 250g HDD
2 controllers (WITH CHARGER PACKS)
WiFi adapter
at least 1 year free LIVE
HDMI cable
Dead Rising and/or L4D

For about £200 tops.
