Microsoft giving away Chocobos photo

Here’s something we didn’t know: over the past week, Microsoft has been promising people hyped for Final Fantasy XIII a secret item in exchange for participating in their “Register, Tweet, and Win” competition thing for the game. Turns out, as revealed earlier this morning, that secret item is a Chocobo item for your Avatar.

Don’t think that the opportunity to grab one of these lovely yellow beauties is over just yet. If you find yourself yearning for some bird companionship just head over to the official Web site for the game and then enter in your LIVE account details. Keep in mind, though, that the item doesn’t ship until sometime in December. The game, on the other hand, won’t arrive until March, so, uh, there's plenty of time enjoy that Chocobo.

You know, my first response to this was "Why are MS giving out stuff for Sony games?" then I remembered.

Truly odd. Same way I find it weird seeing Sonic games on Nintendo consoles.

Maybe it's just me then but I'm in australia but I can see the site but when i click the register it gives me the

"Program not available
You cannot sign up for FF XIII Promo - US because this program is not offered in your region." But then after that if i press ok i get "Your free gift token will be sent to the email" so who knows. Free is free so can't complain if i get it or not.

Bleh, hit the button by accident. Anyways, can avatar items be used interchangeably between accounts on one Xbox? Because my main account is Canadian and the give away in American only. I registered a new account under an American address and signed up for the reward but it's going to be even more useless then avatars items already are if it's stuck on the single account.

Never mind! I went through the Canadian version of the site and it let me register my main account. Perhaps everyone else trying to register for their code should switch the region as well?

I'm gonna forget that I'm getting a free chocobo and I'll get the email with the code and I'll say "Fuck yeah, free chocobo!!!" that's what I'll say.

@ Everyone saying it's region-locked.

IT'S NOT REGION LOCKED!

Just go up to 'International' at the top left of the page. Choose your region, then search for Final Fantasy XIII. Voila.

Worked for me anyway (Great Britain).

Wow, Chocobos and Microsoft in the same sentence. This is like when William S. Burroughs did a Nike commercial.

I'll "wear" it. I signed up for the thing a while ago though. Nice to see what it is early considering I won't be getting it for a while.

@burglarize weird, at first it didn't work, and said it wasn't available in my region, then when I clicked ok it said they were going to email me a code... I guess I'll just have to wait and see. This thing really isn't very well organised :S
