Microsoft fixes HDMI sound problem, rejoice photo

Moving from the old Xbox Experience to the New hasn’t been all lollipops and sugarplums for some users. After upgrading to the new hotness, a small group of HDMI-equipped people experienced a total loss of sound. While the bug made playing Two Worlds bearable, many weren’t so happy that they couldn’t hear their favorite videogames or Netflix movies.

Microsoft hasn’t been able to nail the problem until now. Major Nelson recently updated his blog to tell the readers of the Internet world that a fix has been found. Tomorrow (February 3) Microsoft will distribute a global patch. Nelson stressed patience as it rolls out, but we all know that’s something most of the Xbox Live community doesn’t have.

For those who experienced the problem, what will be the first game you’ll hear after plugging back in that HDMI cable?

I was one of the lucky few who had the HDMI bug. Fortunately I read somewhere early on that as the machine booted to the xbox splash screen, you hold the Y button and Right Trigger, and the machine will reset and all will be hunky-dory.

The hard drive fix was a pain in the ass...

No! You can't have HDMI! Do you know why? Because you fucking chew everything! Do you have any idea how much money it costs to replace all the shit you chew? No you don't, because you're a cat!

Hopefully they fixed the stereo only sound on the HDMI, no 5.1 on HDMI

@GamerD: AMENG! I'm hating the shitty 2.1 sound I'm getting out of my 5.1 system.

Wow! It's a good job you pay a subscription for live, otherwise how else will you get the lightning-quick crippling bug fixes?

Pretty lame that it broke, even by MS standards. I know Sony have had one or two bricking, but they provide an immediate fix, and now include a "revert to old firmware" option in case of lesser trouble.

i have an official MS HDMI and i had no problems with my audio.

I don't suppose it was because my xbox360 was a jasper model or the brand of TV (samsung 720p 37inch)

You know what really sucks is that if you use HDMI for video you can't run a regular optical sound cable or stereo composite cable as the hdmi cable covers them up..what the fuck is that?

I use the PC hook up for 1080p to get around it but I shouldn't have to.

My HDMI sound cuts out randomly when I play xbox 360. Do you think this is the same issue?

I'm Still Having This Sound Issue, My 2nd Console That Was A Arcade With Hdmi Was Flawless, Now This 3rd 60gb Pro Console Is Shit And It Keeps Lagging Up My Scarlet Tv, If I Change The Output And Change It Back To Hdmi1 It Struggles To Load Or I Have To Reset My Tv, Should I Just Call Up Xbox On This?
