Microsoft dominates the competitive gaming scene photo

Microsoft quietly came in and rounded up all of competitive gaming, leaving no room for the PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Wii to play along.

Between the Xbox 360 and Windows PCs, Microsoft exclusively sponsors the World Cyber Games, Major League Gaming, and the Championship Gaming Series, leaving the other two standing outside in the rain. Not bad, Microsoft!

We're very proud of the fact that these professional gaming leagues have picked Microsoft platforms... for their competitions," said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. "That's a great endorsement from people who are pretty key influencers within the industry."

Combine this with their online domination with their LIVE service, exclusives on cometitive favorites like the Halo series and Gears of War, and an installed user base of almost 12 million Xbox 360s, and it looks like Microsoft has competitive gaming in the bag.

I'm impressed, aren't you?

Man, I was sure those competitive gaming associations were going to go with friend codes...

This isn't suprising at all with the fact microsoft have controlled the PC market for quite some time now...

About 80 percent of those PCs are running Star Craft.

20 percent Counter-Strike.

Seeing as Microsoft is the only system that has gotten their online system completely together, makes sense to me.

I want to see some Wii Sports competitive gaming. Extra points for poking out someone's eye. Lose points if you break the TV.

Not really surprising, since there are few competitive gaming titles available on Nintendo and Sony systems.

Yeah, the only thing being used for competition on the PS3 is Resistance, and that is because you can't play it on the wii.

This is actually good news. Competitive gaming can become much larger with help from Microsoft.

Seems almost like a captain obvious moment... i mean, when it comes to computers, you only have mac or PC, and its obvious which one is better for gaming, and when it comes to OS on the PC you only have windows or Linux, and we all know that windows has always been the popular one there. And when it comes to Consoles the 360 is pretty much the only choice since it's been pointed out a million and half times that PS3 doesn't have enough games and the Wii got's the whole "casual" gaming thing going on... not to mention Xbox live has a good history... seems like a forgone conclusion that MS would dominate competetive gaming

I don't know what "cometitive" means, but I like it.

What's the matter Wedge? Mad that someone is praising MS? Or maybe mad that you suck so much and can't compete in these things.

Believe it or not, these guys make a lot of money just for playing games.

And the never expanding comment is just really stupid.

MS can't really take credit for the real competitive games like Counter-Strike and StarCraft. Its not really down to the OS.
