Microsoft confirms a new Halo game is in the works photo

Don Mattrick, head of Microsoft's Xbox business, spoke with MTV Multiplayer yesterday and has revealed that a new Halo game is in the works by Bungie. This a completely new Halo game and has nothing to do with Halo Wars or Peter Jackson's mysterious Halo project.  

Could this have anything to do with the mysterious Bungie game that was supposed to be announced on Monday? Or is this something completely different? The only thing I know for sure is that dog in the above pictures looks so happy!

Whomever at Microsfot thought that delaying the Bungie announcement at the last minute and then having Metrick sort of blurt it out in an interview was good publicity should be on Inside Xbox this week.

I wanna see a man who's just had his ass fired for gross incompetence.

After the horrible mess that was "Halo 3" I completely lost interest in the franchise. Also, I realized that the Halo universe is one of the most derivative and uninspired in recent memory. Mass Effect's is way better.

A new Halo game is common sense considering how Halo 3 ended.

Also, whoever called Halo 3 a mess is a moron especially if he says Halo 2 was better (Halo 2 by far is the worst both in story and buggy gameplay).

And before you complain that Halo 3's graphics were bad, here's a protip : Halo never had that great of graphics. Halo 1 was so-so, Halo 2's graphics just felt bland and almost out of place, and Halo 3's felt like it returned back to the slightly cartoony style of Halo 1

great, halo 3.5...let's hype this one to death, have a midnight launch only to discover a week later that the gameplay hasn't changed since the original and the storyline is even messier. i'll sit by and wait for the lemmings to call me a dumbass...

yea at first the halo series was cool but now it is just getting old i mean once Gears of War becomes a series it is gona be 10 times better. and yes i agree with King3vbo's Gaylo remark
