Microsoft compares NXE to the birth of color television photo

Only one day to go before Microsoft publicly reveals the New Xbox Experience. Are you excited? Are you hyped? I guarantee you are not as excited or hyped as Microsoft itself, since it just compared its NXE to the invention of color television in 1954. Dramatic, much?

"In 1954, the introduction of color TV heralded the dawn of a new era in entertainment," states MS in a press release. "On Nov. 19, more than 50 years after that dramatic shift, a new era in home entertainment begins with the New Xbox Experience as millions of Xbox 360™ consoles will transform instantly through the power of software."

Referring to the NXE as a "bold new future," where movies and games co-exist in tandem for with friends and families around the world, Microsoft has NO intention of letting this dashboard update go unnoticed and undersold.

"The future of home entertainment is Xbox 360 – it’s on demand, it’s high definition, it’s always social, it’s all in one place," claims Don Mattrick. "With the New Xbox Experience we will reach the next generation of Xbox owners, 25 million and beyond. We are at a watershed moment, backed by the largest entertainment brands, with an incredible line up of entertainment unmatched in any industry."

So it is confirmed. The New Xbox Experience is the most significant thing to happen to home entertainment since color television. Wow. Hit the jump for the full press release.

New Xbox Experience Ushers in a New Era of Entertainment with Movie Studios throughout the World

LONDON - Nov. 18, 2008 — In 1954, the introduction of colour TV heralded the dawn of a new era in entertainment. On Nov. 19, more than 50 years after that dramatic shift, a new era in home entertainment begins with the New Xbox Experience as millions of Xbox 360™ consoles will transform instantly through the power of software. A bold new future begins now, where high definition entertainment is delivered in an instant, the best games share the stage with the best movies, and every experience is shared with friends and families, in the same room or around the world.

By the end of this month, Xbox 360 will reach another industry defining milestone: 25 million Xbox 360 consoles sold worldwide. It has taken the leading next generation game and entertainment console just three years to eclipse the total lifetime number of original Xbox consoles sold.

“The future of home entertainment is Xbox 360 – it’s on demand, it’s high definition, it’s always social, it’s all in one place,” said Don Mattrick, senior vice president for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “With the New Xbox Experience we will reach the next generation of Xbox owners, 25 million and beyond. We are at a watershed moment, backed by the largest entertainment brands, with an incredible line up of entertainment unmatched in any industry.”

I don't think I've seen a statement that bad come from Peter M. about Fable. Geezus MS is full of themselves.

Oh please.

I'm disconnecting my network connection so I can actually play my Xbox tomorrow. I do not wish to wait for days while the NXE downloads because their servers got raped.

Microsoft know how to make statements they can't live up to.
Also hope it'll be good. Thinking of getting a 360 just need more convincing (to many unfinished games on other systems).

In 1945, the introduction of the atomic bomb heralded the dawn of a new era in world politics. On Nov. 19, more than 50 years after that dramatic shift, a new era in mankind begins with the New Xbox Experience as millions of Xbox 360™ consoles will transform instantly through the power of software. A bold new future begins now, where world peace and the removal of poverty in third world countries is delivered in an instant, the best economic advisers share the stage with the world leaders, and every experience is shared with friends and families, in the same room or around the world.

Ridiculous claim is ridiculous.

Give me something that will let me rip my dvds to my HD and share THOSE with my friends over a network, then we can start talking about revolutions.

You have no idea how much I want to share my seasons of Red vs Blue with random friends on my Xbox.

fail. all that shit is worthless. just make games for your gaming system.

and im sorry but only I can put myself in the middle of something.not your system of the gods.

and is the 360 HD? i thought only the movie content was HD. since most 360s dont have hdmi its not a high def system right?

lips/your in the movies? they must be joking.

calling it the game room is just that. calling it something else. its still a list of your download arcade games. nothing new.

and who needs an avatar really? im in my menus for 2 min before i start a game where i wont see the avatar anyway.

i use my gaming systems for games. i use my laptop for videos and music.why do people listen to music through there TV's any way? unless you have a good sound system, TV's have lower quality sound than stereos. why stream music from pc to 360 (coming out tv speakers)when you can hook up your pc to your sound system? lame.

Cool, sure.

Equaling or rivaling the invention of color television?

Eh...no.

Letting me install a game onto the HDD to eliminate the disc drive noise, creating a cartoon character to represent myself, and other bells and whistles doesn't equate to changing the way people watch television and, at least back then, how they see the world.

Does anybody know if the NXE is going to be available at midnight? If so, will it be midnight across the board (ie. 12PT, 12MT, 12CT, 12ET) or Midnight in one place (ie. 12PT, 1MT, 2CT, 3ET)

This is retarded. NXE maybe cool but, this is just microsoft's lame attempt to interest people in a poorly made console to keep from making a new one or improving the horrible version they already have.

It's all about the games. Xbox 360 has them. Ps3 doesn't. easy choice.

Let's be realistic. If something revolutionary is to come out, it will be for PC and will probably be either free from the bounds of convoluted US law, or too impractical to prosecute.
