Microsoft announces pricing for all three editions of Halo 3 photo

It seems like every couple of weeks we get some news chuncklet that fuels the Halo 3 anticipation fire. Well today, that news item is the pricing for the Standard, Limited, and Legendary editions of the game:

Legendary Edition -- $129.99

  • Comes packaged in a collectible Spartan helmet case
  • Bonus disk one: HD "making of Halo 3" documentary, various behind-the-scenes videos, and an audio-video calibration tool
  • Bonus disk two: remastered cinematics from the first two Halo games with developer commentary and content from Red vs. Blue and This Spartan Life
  • Illuminating collection of original storyboard art

Limited Edition -- $69.99

  • Comes packaged in a metal case
  • Bonus disk one (same one as the bonus disk from the Legendary Edition)
  • Halo fiction and art book

Standard Edition -- $59.99

  • Comes packaged in a regular Xbox 360 game case with Halo 3 inside
If you happen to be one of the cheap bastards that buy the Standard Edition, prepare to be the laughing stock of 13-year-olds everywhere.

I'm kinda ticked that for $130, I wont get everything. I would have to spend another $70, to just get the art book.

I'll probably end up getting the $70 one, since it's only ten dollars more than normal and I like huge metal cases.

I'm not ashamed to get the standard version. I'm on a budget. If the helmet was wearable... it might be a different story.

I would be shelling out $130 if it came with a wearable helmet that fit me. Sadly, all Microsoft will see out of me is $70. Which I guess isn't too bad.

yeah, if the helmet was full size that could be a "one size fits all" helmet that would be fucking awesome. but i don't even own a 360. Maybe by the time this game comes out i will own one, in which case i might want to reserve the $130 package, i love bonus DVDs and really enjoy watching that kind of shit.

I'll probably end up getting the standard edition. Never cared for any of the extra content, since I'll never watch it anyways.

Awww, I thought the cinematics came with the Limited Edition, too. I guess I'll have to refresh with crappy YouTube videos before I play.

I want the legendary but it is going to be tough to get, I know my local Gamestop has already taken 70 preorders for the legendary (no way they are getting 70 in), though $130 might chase away a few of them. But the real question is will Killzone 2 come with a helmet.

I pre-ordered the legendary edition a while back, but...damn. Twice as much for some useless crap that'll just collect dust a month down the road...oh well.

What a waste of fucking money, for all three editions.

The Legendary version is a bit too pricey, for my taste. Not worth having a helmet that's only big enoug to fit on my cat's head.

Hey... wait a a minute....

LOLZ @ people spending $130.

I'll take the $70 edition. It looks badass enough and I'm not really missing that much by not getting the Legendary set. The helmet will just gather dust, anyway.

Of course, I don't even have a 360, so WTF @ me.

It'll either be standard or limited for myself. I could barely get hyped enough to finish playing Halo 2. So my thoughts on purchasing Halo 3 in its own are, at best, weary.

I'm waiting for them to release the "Halo 3: Ghetto Evolved Edition". It will ship with a free "Spartan worn" t-shirt with "realistic wear and tear". Also, a coupon for $1 off McCain Shoe-string fries.

Listen.

The "Limited Edition" Halo 2's are going for like $8 on Craigslist. Microsoft is going to make 20 million of those plastic helmets for their Legendary "extra extra special special edition." They'll sell 10 million and you'll be seeing those dumbass helmets in the bargain bins of EB for the next 20 years. There's nothing collectible or limited about them.

I'm getting the $60 edition and maybe not even that. I might just wait and pick up the used copy that all of you kids end up selling back to Gamecrazy for 1/20th of its original value.

They should call the $130 option the Unshowered Virgin package.

$10 says there'll be about a dozen YouTube videos featuring that helmet on random cats the day this game comes out.

Well this is definitely weird... I'm one of the people that should be buying the most expensive version without question becuase that's how much of a halo fan I am but there is no reason to spend another 60 bucks on a helmet and I wasn't even that impressed with the bonus disc on the collectors of halo2 and this looks to just be the same shit rehashed for halo 3 but maybe all of the cinematic in hd will be enough to convince me to part with another 10 bucks

>> Yeah I mean you only have to wait what? 4 years for that to happen.

Halo 2 only came out two years and some change ago.

I'll have to wait ONE year, tops. Likely less as used copies of Halo 3 will begin appearing online and in-store within a month or two of the release. There will be so many copies of that game floating around you can't help but catch a bargain.

I liked the metal case that Gears of War came in. So if I ever get the chance to get Halo 3, I'll get the "limited edition"(Why don't they just call it Special edition or something?) one. Or I'll be like Lezbro and get it used...
Hmm.
They should have put something more useful instead of that helmet...Can you put the helmet on a small child? or is the helmet smaller?

Imo just make a helmet out of a milk jug and crayolas.

Save that c-note for beer.

I love Halo, and will spend less than half as much as the naive Halo fans did and bye the standard edition.

Honestly, who the fuck cares about special editions? I bet most of them don't even watch the content, and keep it on their mantel so their friends know they are willing to spend whatever it takes to make up for their deflated gamer confidence.
