Gamers may have noticed lately that Microsoft's Xbox 360 lineup is a bit of a dustbowl, with very little on the horizon outside of third-party games. The 'Soft, however, isn't too bothered about that, claiming it's not the size of the library that counts, it's the quality.
"Creating core IP, as many first-and third-parties have seen over the years, isn't an easy thing," claimed corporate VP Phil Spencer. "I went through the process of creating Gears with Epic and I know the sweat, time, and effort hat went into it. I also worked on things like Alan Wake, Too Human, Crackdown, and stuff that didn't hit the same level of success, but had an equal amount of sweat equity and heart go into getting created."
Spencer said that the 360's lineup is about "quality and impact, not number of releases a year."
Here's the thing though, Microsoft. You need a quantity of something before anything can have any quality. Let's see some games worth a shit, please. No, not your on-rails Fable crap.
Microsoft comments on lack of new Xbox 360 exclusive IPs [Gamezone]
Either way, this looks to be a Sony and Nintendo year for me; I'm going crazy on the Vita and the 3DS, and I'll get the Wii-U when the first first-party game hits. If it's something like Metroid-Wii-U or Mario Galaxy 3 Wii-U, I'm going apeshit.
By which I mean it's just a pile of bullshit PR nonsense.
I'm not even a big Halo fan...
...
I think PC is doing better...
...WHY!
Part of me wishes Kinect would have crashed and burned so MS would stop pumping all their damn money into it.
I agree with Jim completely on this one. In order to HAVE quality, you must have a quantity of SOMETHING to receive that quality.
But i'm sure we'll have some 1st party rare stuff after E3 but it'll probably be Kinect focus'd :/ MS should buy up Double Fine & give them money and not fuck them over like every studio they've bought besides Bungie.
Fable has let me down ever since I bought 2. I like em...a bit...but they aren't anything new or exciting like Molyneaux would have you believe. Fable 1 was awesome and had so much potential to develop, and then it was squandered in hype about well...not much at all.
i learned my lesson, though. i'll be buying a Japanese console next gen.
If you'd read then no, no he didn't put Too Human and Quality in the same sentence.
Perhaps you were looking at equity?
That doesn't make much sense to me considering. Killzone 3, Infamous 2, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, 2 God of War HD collections, Team Ico Collection, Sly Cooper Collection, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.
So I swallowed my pride and bought a year of xbl off amazon for 40 bucks ( I wasn't paying 60 I swallowed my pride not my sanity) and this happens.
even looking at exclusives i missed the past 5 years the pickings are still slim. They truly relied on established brands and popularity to sell this thing, its probably why i never felt i was missing much.
And now that the casual gamer is the industry's new darling the people that brought them here have really been hung out to dry.
Better hope the third parties have your interest in mind or switch over to a ps3, because if you can't do either of the above, your pretty screwed.
By the by around 2009 Microsoft was laughing as far as exclusive content was concerned. They've unfortunately dropped the ball within the last year.
I'd rather have a good quality exclusive than just more exclusives. PS3's exclusives, as a whole are merely 'OK'. So to claim that its better because it has more exclusives is just idiotic fanboy drivel.
Just because Microsoft's priorities have shifted towards Kinect, doesn't change the fact that more[PS3 exclusives] does not always mean better.
Since Gears and Forza the only reason I turn on my 360 is Skyrim. That's all you gave me last year. This year nothing. I hope you pull out something at e3, I truly do. If not, well skyrim and my backlog of arcade titles will keep me busy, but ill mostly be on my ps3 and 3ds. Oops wait, forgot I grabbed fear 3 and el shaddai. You don't credit for those though. Make me want kinect or give me some damn games.
Sincerely,
My Money.
While Sony may have varied exclusives Microsoft is known for it's excellent online service. The minute Microsoft attempts to give it's users a solid Single Player game everyone pirates the fuck out of it.
It's truly baffling to me.
I'm putting my money on NextBox at E3

Ps3 does not have any exclusives in the top 10 of either charts.
While I enjoyed Uncharted 2(the first was better), it wasn't enough to OMFG DAY ONE Uncharted 3.. and what, Heavy Rain? Nonono, I'm laughing *with* you not at you! What else...can't think of anything else.
As he also said, I'd sooner put Skyward Sword as best exclusive of the year than anything Sony did last year.
As he also, also said, where are all these best-selling exclusives in the top 10?
More isn't better, people! Didn't they teach that in first grade?
Meaningless fanboy drivel.
Also, cocks.
"Oh, we haven't got any games left except Gears and Halo. Whoops!"
"at least there are all those kinect titles!"
I see myself playing Dark Souls on my 360 for a long time so the lack of news doesn't bother me yet.
