Represenin' 305! Too lazy to fix my daylight savings time and half asleep, barely coherent, and talking into the camera I found myself driving and running around the brand new (and yet still filthy) Circuit City and Target locations in Miami. This was a great opportunity for me to meet local gamers, tell them about what we do, and hear their stories from the front lines as they camped for almost 3 full days.

Despite all of the stores I visited, not a single person could tell me what game they were buying first with absolute certainty. The promise of next-gen gaming from Sony and the brand lovalty for the PlayStation is a very powerful thing, it will be interesting to see what happens tonight when we do the rounds for Wii campers. In this update you'll meet an EB Games camper who had to resort to going to Best Buy because they're not taking care of their own, a desperate woman who's trying to beat the self-formed government of campers who took organization in their own hands as Target wasn't prepared, and what Cindy Margolis looks like on the cover of PlayBoy. Enjoy!  Three more updates coming as soon as possible.

What a circus. How could Sony have screwed up this launch more? I guess if Resistance weren't part of it...

I've seen the procedure booklet that Target has, they do have a system in place to handle this so I wouldn't really call it lack of organization...about an hour beforehand they'll start handing out tickets to whomever was in line, and then letting each person go in order to get their system and accessories they need first. The only problem was that woman who decided she wasn't in line, being a stubborn cockmunch. If that was our store and I were working, I would've laughed at her and starting handing over my tickets to the guys you were chatting with, which I hope this store did.

The tickets didn't get handed over to the people that were talked to. Oh well. It got really chaotic towards the end when people showed up that 'claimed' to be there all night. The store ended up only having 8 units, 6 of the 60 gig and 2 of the 20 gig, so although it was fun, ended up being a night wasted and finished off with some disappointment.
