MGS4 still a PS3 exclusive; the Internet fails again photo

Rumors: We hate them and we want them to die. The latest to suffer a quick death was the idiotic rumor that was being floated around because of fringe gaming sites looking to garner some attention with the news that Metal Gear Solid 4 would be coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. WRONG! CVG got the official comment from Konami:

"Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time," a Konami representative told CVG, reiterating that the Hideo Kojima stealth-em-up was still "exclusive to PlayStation 3."

There, got it? Stop believing the hype and never, ever, believe what an unknown site says when they get their info from their mother's cousin's brother's friend from back East.

"Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time" So why did they add the "at this time" part? would be a much more solid statement if they just said "Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360"

I can say, "I have no plans to buy 50 Cent's newest CD at this time." Doesn't mean I'll never buy it, it just means that unless I get some kind of urking for a rapper with more pop culture references then Laguna Beach, I won't be picking up the CD.

And since I hate 50 Cent AND Laguna Beach it's never going to happen. At this time is a moot point at best.

This is reminding me of the Assaisn Creed announcement. Sony asked the creators to not mention it'll be on the X360 too.

I really wouldn't be surprised if this makes it to the 360.

Could mean, I don't say I does BUT it could, that they are working on the PS3 version now and once it done the start making the X360 and PC version. Don't see why not, it's wouldn't be the first MGS on Xbox or PC.

Xbox 360 is getting the inevitable follow up game, Metal Gear Solid 4: Existence.

Didn't Kojima personally say he hated working on the Xbox because it was almost impossible to move the MGS2 engine over?

Point is, as long as these companies make these hazy statements there will be rumors, don't blame it on the internet.

Yeah thats true Kojima doesn't like ports. He like make making games that suits the console. With mgs2 he had problems with the rain on the ship on the xbox.

Methodis, I don't know about that, but he did say he hated doing ports. In an interview with EGM, he stated that he sees ports as doing a disservice to the fans, and that if he wanted to do a game for the 360, it would be from the ground up.

The X-box was the first to get MGS2: Substance, but it kinda sucked. The framerate took a hit compared to the PS2 version, despite being on a more powerful machine.

And also note that Kojima said he himself wasn't interested in porting MGS4, but it probably won't stop Konami from getting some other dude to oversee the process.

Remember when Bethesda denied the rumour that Oblivion was not coming out for the PS3 ... and then it came out for the PS3...
Anyone? I think that with other JP companies like Capcom leading the way, Konami may eventually port MGS4 to the 360.
Why not? MGS2 was ported for the Xbox and MGS:Twin Snakes appeared on the Gamecube. Never say never, man.

Rumor isn't squashed. Given the history of MGS games, it's pretty likely that at some point there will in fact be MGS4 or some variant on the 360. Your pronouncement in this post that it's a sure thing is just as wrong as some random site saying it's coming for sure.

Given the history of MGS games? Sir , have you ever heard of a title called "Metal Gear Solid 3" appearing on anything BESIDES the PS2? :P

I also remember when GTA franchise was exclusive to the PS2. Funny how things change. Sony has some work to do to convert us new Xbox fanboys back to our beloved Playstation.

I'm not buying a ps3 just for MGS4 (already pulled a similar stunt for Dead Rising), so here's hoping it does come out on 360 as well. yes.

"at this time."

Give it not even a year after it's released for PS3. You'll then see Sony fanboys weep incessantly on the release date of MGS4 for the 360.

Why would Sony fans weep if it comes to 360 a year later? Kojima's first love will always be Sony, and it's not like the 360 is getting it at the same time....

You seriously think that Kojima choose Sony because he likes them so much? Wow that's pretty naive.

"What?! good news for the PS3?! but-but... is so expensive... i don't want to ever have a reason to even consider buying a PS3... no, no, i must be a lie! it can't be true!"

seriously... every freaking time it's the samething... ANY good news that the PS3 is just met with denial. If they announce that their is a new exclusive game for the PS3, the almost immediate responce is "it will probably be ported to the 360", or "meh, it doesn't look that good"... which is unlike and good news for any other system which is much more supportive. Man, how long will it be beofre poeple start saying that ff13 will be coming out for the 360... Honestly, in the end in the last generation of consoles, all three systems had their exclusives, as well as cross platform games... this generation probably won't be much different... i'm sure in the next year or so gradually more developers will start making more games exclusivly for the PS3 because they see some strength in it that isn't in the 360... kinda like how the makers of "WarDevil" orginally annouced their game would be cross platform, but then CANCELLED the production for 360 (i'd wager that there was a good reason for the cancellation for the currently popular 360 as opposed to the "less popular" ps3... hardware difference perhaps?)

It's stuff like this that make me want to see the PS3 succeed just so it can be rubbed in all those poeples faces... ah, just how i love watching red sox fans when their team looses (or when yankee fans loose to red sox, that was almost as also entertaining), it's down right hilarious

Without MGS4 the playstation 3 literally has nothing. 360 grabbed BioShock, Assassin's Creed is multiplatform... They really have no other highly anticipated exclusives. It's pretty pathetic when you see the last of the sony fanboys hyping games like motorstorm.

@xmetninjax

...White knight story, Devil may cry 4, Final fantasy 13 (any non-wii/handheld game square enix may make), not to emtnion a few that look they have some promise such as heavenly sword and Wardevil... yes, PS3 has nothing other than MGS4... seriously, PS3 is only one month old, veruses xbox360's one full year; i think it's a little bit eariler to say PS3 has no anitcipated exclusives and will NEVER be getting any...

and though my memory has never been that good, but i don't think the future looked THAT bright for the 360 back when it first launched... not that many more anticipated exclusives then what the PS3 is showing.

I'm hoping for a that Kojima/Suda51 game for the Wii they talked about on Hideochan. that would be either a new Snatcher game or something completely new.

Money Talks and there's no money to be made on the PS3 it'll come to 360 and PC even if Konami hires another team to do the porting.
