MGS: Rising 'levels the playing field' for exclusivity photo

Microsoft's Shane Kim has a lot to be happy about, following a relatively successful E3 showing. One of the biggest Xbox-flavored shockers this year was arguably the appearance of Hideo Kojima, who announced a whole new Metal Gear Solid experience for the Xbox 360. For Kim, this announcement has 'leveled the playing field' for third party exclusives.

"I still think exclusive content is really important. First of all, in games, we've said for a long time that a key part of our strategy with Xbox 360 was a level third-party playing field. Now we've effectively done that with Metal Gear Solid [Rising] coming to the Xbox 360," boasts Kim. "The economics are such that third parties also have to support multiple platforms, and you can't ignore Xbox 360. It's the second leading platform.

"It's too much of a business-driver to just be focused on a single platform if you're not a first party. So, it's up to the first parties to deliver the bulk of the exclusive game content. Now, we're having success with third parties because we can still get exclusive downloadable content, because of the service we've built with Live and the business we've been able to generate for third-party publishers there."

It's certainly a coup for Microsoft to finally crack the Metal Gear case, even if it's not MGS4. Luckily, Sony still has Ragdoll Kung Fu. Nobody's taking that feather from the PS3's cap!

Has anyone else noticed that the tagline for this is "Lightning Bolt Action"? Where as all the other Metal Gear Solid games have been "Tactical Espionage Action".

I wonder how much this is actually going to be like Metal Gear Solid, or be the "Starcraft: Ghost" of MGS. Only, this game will actually come out.

...oh, and Jim sucks

@Fantus

Yes, I've noticed that, and I bet it means the game will be a rail shooter and it will be bundled with a special light gun

Dear Hamza,
Please ban Detox for extreme suckage and being too young to troll the internets without supervision.
Also, where is the "ignore" button on this crazy thing.

Thanks in advance

"Funny how you had to take that jab with the last sentence. It couldn't have been MGS: Peace Walker, Uncharted 2, MAG, God of War III, Agent, Heavy Rain, or any other exlcusive coming down the pipeline."

No, it couldn't have been. Because that would not have been a JOKE, which is what it was. There is something seriously wrong with a few of you people.

Jim Sterling is a giant fat-ass.

Hey, it was a joke. Don't take offense to it or else something is seriously wrong with you.

Why would I be offended by such a pathetic attempt to be upsetting? I'm actually amused by people who think such comments are even remotely offensive after reading them for two years.

However, if you think such personal jabs are on the same level as an impersonal and lighthearted joke I made about a rubbish game, then you really do have emotional issues, son.

Well I'm an owner of both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
I'm really not that disappointed but I know I won't be interested in the
Xbox 360 version. I don't know how to explain it but it just feels to me like that the Metal Gear games are just meant for the Playstation. Not to mention the better graphics and what not.

It's pretty obvious that Ron Workman was bullshitting, saying MGS4 for 360 was already in development and such.. If it was true, they would have announced it before Rising.

I totally am posting this so late he/anybody else will never read this...but no I didn't see Raiden in MGS4. As I stated in the post...I don't own a PS3. So no I haven't seen him as a badass cyborg ninja.

Shane Kim should be careful what his fool ass is wishing for. If the third party playing field gets leveled it'll be leveling in Sony's favor since PS3 has been getting shafted since its release. You're already starting to see the perception changing because Sony's 1st and 2nd party exclusives don't just beat the Microsoft's, they murder them and needlessly mutilate the corpses.

Bull-fucking-shit. AS of the moment that comment is Bull-fucking-shit. Suddenly Sony fanboys have got time-machines and are insisting that the upcoming PS3 exclusives are all going to be fucking amazing. They might not be, they could all turn out to be shit. We won't know until they actually exist in a public space, and not in a theoretical mindwank. Shut the fuck up HPV, you're a dick.
