MGS: Peace Walker getting special edition PSP bundle photo

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is getting bundled with a limited edition PSP-3000 when it hits North America on June 8. The "Spirited Green" PSP comes packed with a UMD copy of the game, a downloadable movie voucher and a 2GB memory stick. It'll retail for $199.99.

Customers will also get exclusive in-game items, including FOX camouflage uniform and Stealth Gun. Not quite as a expansive as the Japanese bundle, which is ten times better.

Still, it seems like a pretty good deal to anybody who doesn't yet own a PSP. Or somebody who bought a PSPgo and wish they hadn't, since it seems only the UMD versions of games get anything cool. Peace Walker itself is looking incredibly promising, and is easily my most anticipated PSP game of the year. Not that I can think of many more.

FOSTER CITY, Calif., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) today announced the availability of the limited-edition METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) Entertainment Pack, combining Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.'s award-winning METAL GEAR SOLID franchise with the PSP-3000 system.  To coincide with the launch of the stand-alone game, this exclusive package will be offered at major retail locations in the United States and Canada for $199.99 (MSRP).

Available on June 8, 2010, METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER is a complete METAL GEAR SOLID game on UMD® (Universal Media Disc) and features an extensive amount of gameplay that will revolutionize previous notions of a handheld game experience. The limited-edition package will debut a "Spirited Green" PSP-3000 system, marking the first time the color will be available in North America. In addition, special in-game content such as an exclusive Camouflage Uniform with FOX logos and Stealth Gun feature, both of which will be unlocked early in the game; a PlayStation®Network downloadable movie voucher (U.S. residents only; title to be announced); and a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo™ will complete this ultimate portable entertainment package.

"Konami's METAL GEAR SOLID franchise commands a massive fan base and we saw an amazing opportunity to create synergy with the METAL GEAR SOLID franchise and bring a console-quality gaming experience to the PSP system," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President, Product Marketing, SCEA. "Kojima Productions is renowned for its ability to create incredible original storylines and intense gameplay experiences; that is no different with METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER."

"METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER takes tactical-espionage to a whole new level and the PSP system is the only handheld entertainment system on the market powerful enough to support its rich graphics and extreme gameplay," said Shinji Hirano, President, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "We've seen the METAL GEAR SOLID franchise perform exceptionally well on the PSP platform. SCEA has long been an industry leader and a valuable partner and we look forward to many more collaborations with SCEA in the future."

The limited-edition METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER PSP Entertainment Pack features a "Spirited Green" PSP-3000 system, along with the following:

·         METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKERgame on UMD – METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER marks the return of the world-renowned stealth-action series. Hand-crafted by series creator Hideo Kojima, the all-new sequel delivers an original game design, story, and scenario as it picks up where METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER for the PlayStation®2 system leaves off

·         PlayStation Network downloadable movie voucher (U.S. residents only; title to be announced)

·         2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo – Leverages the PSP system's multimedia functionality by storing photos, music, videos, and game saves

All PSP entertainment packs bundle everything one needs to experience the PSP platform–from the hardware, to games, videos and memory–all for $199.99 MSRP, an incredible value to consumers.

I have a PSP-3000, and hope it's on PSN... I'm far too lazy to go buy stuff anymore. I'd buy MG Ac!d or MGS Portable Ops over PSN if it was actually there.

I usually don't like green versions of consoles because they never do the 'right' kind of green. This is the right green. Do want.

Good think I didn't import the Spirited Green, then.

Here's hoping they never release Bright Yellow in the states.

On that note, the Carnival Series (which this is one of) is pretty damn slick. Not sure what they did, but it's the shiniest PSP color set I've ever seen. Definitely a nice change from the boring colors they've put out so far.

It is my most anticipated PSP game this year too. Mainly because I can't name a single other game coming out for the system this year. Not trying to be a hater. I have a PSP, and I definitely like the games I have for it. But there really is nothing coming out for it. That being said, MGS:PW might just be a day one purchase!

Oh, awesome. They added that since I last checked. I thought Konami was just ignoring old PSP games on PSN.

I think I might get this, though a 2GB MMS seems kind of low to me. I would have paid slightly more for this bundle if it had included a 4GB or 8GB stick.

I've checked online and the prices for those things are just stupidly high compared to SD cards.

Damn, I don't really use the PSP I have but one in a hunter green that matches 1/4 of the shit I own is really tempting.
