The Metroid Prime Trilogy, being released by Nintendo on Aug. 24, is the same three Prime games we played before just with Wii controls added to the two GameCube games in the pack, Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Why do I want it so bad then!? I've played all these games multiple times and it isn't just the sexy box art that is attracting me. Maybe I just want another excuse to experience them again.
The trailer Nintendo put together isn't helping me not spend my money on games I already own either. Not only does it bring back plenty of awesome memories from the games, but it also reminds us of how epic the score for the games were. In my opinion the games had some of the most atmospheric music in gaming and it fit so well with Metroid's solitary feeling. Hit the jump to be reminded why you want this bundle so bad.

Yes, I'm psyched for this.
I LOVED Metroid Prime 1.
3 was great, but I couldn't help but wish I was using a controller most of the time.
That trailer WAS really sweet though. I gotta go find the Metroid Prime soundtracks.
Any graphical improvements, or is this a port + new controls?
I seriously can't wait for this. I love all the MP games, and know they're going to be even better with 3's control schemes. I'm excited to hear about the token system being in all the games, and glad to hear they kept the multiplayer in MP2. The only thing I'm NOT looking forward to is having to fight the Boost Guardian in MP2 again...
Also, now that we've seen Other M and this collection, I'm interested to see what Retro is working on these days...
Just throwing that out there. :P
I found that Corruption had much less backtracking than the previous games, mostly due to changes in the game's design involving the use of Samus' ship to move between zones. I really didn't feel like I was backtracking at all, as much as exploring. As much as I loved Prime 1 and 2, they sometimes felt a little bit like work. I didn't get that feeling from Corruption at all.
There one portion towards the end of the game that requires a bit of backtracking, but you can avoid it if you keep your eyes open throughout the game.
It's in my personal top 5. MP2 and MP3 are also awesome.

It wasn't that bad, but if its indicative of the rest of the game: I don't feel like I'm exploring, or adventuring with a purpose, like in Ocarina of time you kind of backtracked when you had to go learn Saria's song for the Gorons...but it was implied. I feel like in Metroid I'm kind of wandering around aimlessly, hoping I'll find the key to the next area.
Well good for you, no one said you have to buy it, but what more could Nintendo give you? Its three great games, two of which, are being reworked with new stuff like controls, and enhanced visuals. Plus You get special collectors edition packaging, a art book and free t-shirt if you buy it at GameStop, all for only $50. So what more could Nintendo have done to make this a better offer?
We're getting a brand new Metroid game next year, so you can't complain that Nintendo's not making any new Metroid games anymore. I guess people will complain about anything, when it comes to Nintendo. What do you want, for them to pay you for it? I just can't believe people are opposed to this deal, yet no one will complain that Microsoft is charging $60 to $100 for a expansion pack with the same exact online as Halo 3. There just repackaging Halo 3's online content that most people already own, but no one gives a shit about!
The thing is people with an Xbox will buy anything with a Halo logo on it, regardless of its value for money. This thing is 50 bucks, like Metroid Prime 3, and you get 2 free retooled games, a t-shirt, art book and special casing for free.
It's almost more expensive to not buy this.
Of course you could.
However, to play Gamecube games, you need a Gamecube controller and a Gamecube memory card, which could easily bring the $10 price tag up to $30 if you don't already have them. (And comparing total Gamecube sales to total Wii sales, I'd say most Wii owners don't.)
Besides, I can't be the only one who had difficulty going back to the Gamecube controls of MP1 and 2 after playing MP3.
Still, the Metroid Prime games deserves another shot at retail.
