Metroid Prime fans, prepare to splooge! Nintendo has just announced that it will be bringing the critically acclaimed Metroid Prime Trilogy to the Wii with motion controls, enhanced presentation and brand new in-game rewards.
A new three-game compilation including the previous GameCube titles along with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will launch on August 24 for $49.99. You can expect Metroid Prime 1 & 2 to play the same way Corruption did, so if you were a fan of Samus Aran's Wii debut, then this is definitely the trilogy for you. Fifty bucks for three games isn't too shabby, either.
"Metroid Prime Trilogy puts the best first-person adventures all in one place, with a host of new additions that make these three timeless titles more engaging than ever," says NoA's Cammie Dunaway. "A great deal of care and detail has gone into Metroid Prime Trilogy, providing longtime fans with new ways to experience the games they love."

THREE INCREDIBLE GAMES JUST GOT MORE AWESOME: METROID PRIME TRILOGY HEADS TO WII
All Three Critically Acclaimed Games Now Feature Motion Controls with Enhanced Presentation and In-Game Rewards
REDMOND, Wash., May 22, 2009 - Metroid™ Prime 3: Corruption set a new standard for first-person motion controls in video games. Now it's bringing those controls to the rest of the celebrated series, allowing players to experience the entire Metroid Prime story arc with the peerless precision of the Wii Remote™. Nintendo announces Metroid Prime Trilogy, a new premium three-game collection for the Wii™ console that bundles all three landmark Metroid Prime games onto one disc and revamps the first two installments with intuitive motion controls, wide-screen presentation and other enhancements. Metroid Prime Trilogy will be available exclusively for Wii on Aug. 24 at a suggested retail price of $49.99.
Each game maintains its original storyline and settings, but now Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes let players use their Wii Remote to aim with precision as heroine Samus Aran. Based on the breakthrough control system that debuted in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, these new Wii controls bring an entirely new level of immersion and freedom to these milestone games.
"Metroid Prime Trilogy puts the best first-person adventures all in one place, with a host of new additions that make these three timeless titles more engaging than ever," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "A great deal of care and detail has gone into Metroid Prime Trilogy, providing longtime fans with new ways to experience the games they love."
All three games now reside on a single disc. Players can access the game they want from a unified main menu that ties together all three adventures. Through a new unlockables system, players can gain access to in-game rewards such as music and artwork by accomplishing objectives across all three games.
Metroid Prime Trilogy was developed by Retro Studios and Nintendo, the same developers that created the original games for the Nintendo GameCube™ and Wii systems.

I only played the first one and the amount of backtracking was ridiculous. I still don't own a wii and despite this being a great deal really isnt a reason for me to go out and buy one either.
-Prime 3.
But dammit, why couldn't they do this pack-in deal with the other games?! Pikmin 1+2 for Wii would've been even better news.
But I am SO buying them again.
Please me the wii mote controlls are optional.
Damn blackberry
I don't blame Retro for that. They did a fantastic job. I blame Nintendo. While the first Prime game did set up for a sequel I don't think Retro wanted to do it right away. I think after the critical and mild financial success of the first Prime Nintendo forced Retro into the sequels when Retro probably wanted to take a break and make another game or two before returning to the Metroid series. This is kinda proven by the fact that three high ranking Retro employees left Retro after their contractual obligations to finish the Prime Series was up.
I might be interested if they put Kraid back in 1 (check out it's Wiki page. There is a screenshot of Kraid in the Phazon Mines. he was apparently supposed to be in it but was cut from the final game due to time constraints). Otherwise this is a pass for me.
P.S. Despite what I said about 2 and 3 there are things I like about them. I like 2 for it's massive focus on the Morph Ball. I always thought the Morph Ball wasn't being used to it's full potential in other games and I was glad to see it used so much (seriously, like half the boss battles in 2 are spent in Morph Ball mode) and so well in 2. While 3 was the most empty and boring of the Prime games I do love the controls. It feels really great to point at the screen and have it be so precise with the aiming. That thing where you actually have to be slightly outside the screen before Samus turns will probably be copied in all future Wii FPS's.
As what Nintendo calls me; the "core" gamer, I guess that means I want a deep/immersive/enthralling experience. And while I do get that with Metroid Prime, I do not want to re-buy all my old games to have to get that true (read: core) gaming experience.
Nintendo already gave us Virtual Console, but not for the reasons you think. It's the only way they can appease the "core" by saying 'Look! We have all your old favorites! So leave us alone about core games, we are too focused on the casuals!'
The Conduit can't come soon enough.
Wow some people will is find anything to complain about when it come to Nintendo. Why would you want to buy them individually? So you have to pay more money for them? I guess these tough economic times hasn't hit you yet then.
This is a great deal, and I doubt that you'd ever see Microsoft package up a newly enhanced version of the "Halo series" for $60 on the 360. But then again they'll just put out a expansion pack for $60, and everyone will buy it with no hesitation, or trepidation what-so-ever!
That would really suck.
I am probably most impressed by the price. Definitely picking these up again. This is great. I hope they all get great new cover art that unifies them, and a nice box. Also, does 'enhanced presentation' imply that the graphics have been redone? We knew that the GC games were coming but as far as I knew all that was announced was the 'achievements and control' changes...If new graphics I'll die (even though they looked amazing, and in some spot better, already)
yeehaw.
Just like Nintendo is putting out ports of old Gamecube games and people will gobble it up with no trepidation whatsoever ^_^
Why attack MS anyway? A person dislikes the Wii and they are automatically a 360 fanboy? Grow up kid.
And this is a rip-off, MP1 is 8 years old, MP2 about 5, most games can be bought for 20 for your backwards compatible Wii, I found the Wiimote controls to add nothing, its just floaty and annoying and doesn't offer the stability of a mouse, more importantly enemies don't take damage based on where you shoot them, shooting a pirate in the head or leg will make them go down in the exact same way and MP1 or and 2 didn't have a gimmick like that wire thingy that 3 had.
Course I imagine people will gobble it up and demand more, then other companies will get in on the act then whenever the "core" argument comes up we'll get "YOU GOT THE PRIME TRILOGY STFU".
Just remember to pick up Punch Out with your ports, please.
I'm not sure how you could complain, unless you don't like the games themselves.
I like the new control scheme, but you can get the first MP for less than $5.
If you don't want it, then don't buy it. But please save your delusional whimpering and fanboy bitching for someone who cares instead of posting it here.
