Metro 2033 to ship with Steamworks photo

Expect Steam Achievements and much more when 4A Games' subterranean horror FPS, Metro 2033, ships. Valve has announced a deal with THQ to ship the PC version of the title with Steamworks, meaning the game will be supported with a wide berth of familiar Steam features: Achievements, auto-updates, and DLC delivery.

A bit of icing on top the Steam cupcake, THQ is prepared to give even more copies of open-world action title Red Faction: Guerrilla with Steam-specific pre-orders of the weirdo FPS, which is set to launch on March 15th. It's like THQ can't give enough of these things away. Or kill the trade-in price enough.

Steam is gaming what Windows is to the personal computer. Sure there is other software out there.. but in terms of usability and access Steam got a hold of the market first.

I for one welcome Metro on steam and cant wait to buy it ;).

The giving away Red Faction thing is some brilliant marketing. Game is old, so they can figure anyone who was seriously going to buy it already did, but get it in gamers hands for free and win over some people who would have skipped it and...hey, what do you know? The new Red Faction is due this fall, just in time having converted all those new people with the pre-order bonuses.
Somebody in marketing at THQ deserves a raise.
