4A Games' take on the whole post-apocalyptic setting, Metro 2033, will offer something we don't necessarily see very often: a Russian voice option, complete with subtitles for "maximum Russian-ness."
Seeing as how most videogames by default have the sound effects turned up to the point where you can't hear what's being said nine times out of ten, I always opt for subtitles when given the chance.
With Metro 2033, Russian dialogue will likely be the way to go, so the choice is even easier to make. How do you game? Full on English all the way, or spoken foreign languages, when the option is there?

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Fake Russian accents make me throw up.
I actually find the Russian to language to be my favorite. It's pretty hot.
PC doesn't have that problem. :D
Umm...lucky you?
2 DVDs then for the 360? And again, damn them for taking back the PS3 version, though we can always hope for a PS3 port in the future.
It's been done a hundred million times before. Whatchu talkin' 'bout?
What's up with these comments this morning?

Porting to the PS3? Or extra voice options?
Enlighten me on the games that provide multiple language options. I can think of some, but very few and those being mostly PS2/Xbox games [Dynasty Warriros, etc] in which textures, meshes weren't taking up a ton of space on the discs yet. I recall FFXII having awful voice compression on the PS2 and that using DVDs, so excuse me for being a little skeptical on having another voice track on a game and worrying about quality. That and 2 discs makes the players actual freedom within the game limiting.
I'd say something critical about feeling like being forced down tunnels, but seeing as this game is taking place in subways, well, I guess they're excused.
If the game turns out to be good I'll probably play it that way.
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory comes to mind.
On a DVD-9 I'm 99.9% sure they can compress two audio tracks. It's not an issue at all. An even if it were it's a small thing to make it an optional download. It's not that big of a deal at all.
Although after Red Alert, I have a soft spot for fake Russian voice acting.
Metro 2033 wasn't something I was terribly interested in, but I'm glad to see them paying attention to details.
Kind of like watching a forign film with subtitles. It feels less forced and more authentic that way.
As some other user are saying, its kinda weird to me to see a movie or game with non-enlgish-speaking characters that either speak perfect english or some weird accent all the time.
And besides, playing a game with a language you don't know, even with subtitles, is a great way of learning some words and expressions here and there.
Metro 2033 is shaping to be a great game :)
Genious :D
