Meteos Wars hitting XBLA this Wednesday for 800 MS Points photo

Q Entertainments addictive puzzler Meteos Wars will be coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade this Wednesday for 800 Microsoft Points. The game was originally set for an October release, but was delayed because Microsoft likes to make your lives miserable.

Originally released on the Nintendo DS, the idea behind Meteos is simple -- match like colors by moving blocks, turning them into rockets and shooting them up into space. Meteos Wars keeps this basic gameplay, swapping the the stylus controls of the DS version for a dual-stick scheme that takes awhile to get used to (you move a cursor by the left stick, move blocks with the right).

Meteos Wars also features some new modes, including head-to-head local and multiplayer battles. It also features a pretty killer soundtrack, which I didn't remember from the DS version.

So guys, tell me whose ass I'm going to be kicking online come Wednesday. Who's picking this one up with me?

This is such an incredible game...but the thought of playing it with the 360 d-pad is not terribly pleasant. I nearly gnawed my thumbs off trying to even play lumines on the 360. How can you even play this without a stylus?

I'll sure be picking it up.. or... whatever the reverse of that is for download games.

I have no idea what exactly the game is about, but I know it enough from reputation to know that £7 or so is a damn steal.

Hmmm, I'll give the trial a whirl certainly and see if the dual-stick control works out. If it does then I'll certainly be dropping the points.

I love Meteos. On the DS.

I really don't see this being playable on the Xbox. I can't imagine how the control scheme would work with no stylus input

I'm with nj, if the trial proves to me that the controls are workable, I'll be picking this up. One question, are you going to be able to move blocks sideways and up and down like in the Disney meteos? Or is it going to be just up and down like the original?

I'm somewhat worried about the controls, but I'll probably get it anyways, I love Q? games.

oops, guess i should read the article before commenting next time :-P

The dual stick idea has some promise, but analog sticks have never been quite precise enough for navigating puzzle games...i'll try the demo, at least.

Sorry Nick, as much as I loved Meteos on my DS, after playing it dual analog with Poker Smash, I can't bring myself to play this until they develop a working D-pad

I keep hearing about this so I'll be demoing it to see what all the fuss is all about. Looks pretty generic though
