The latest trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots reveals what looks to be the newest set of boss enemies for Solid Snake -- The Beasts. Broken down soldiers who have been given new bodies, these villains look like the toughest bad guys yet ... but wait a second ... isn't that? Yes it is. That's frikkin' FOXHOUND! Crying Wolf, Raging Raven, Screaming Mantis and yes ... Laughing Octopus, the twisted, malformed re-imaginings of the bosses Snake killed in the original Metal Gear Solid. Oh God, I think I just came a little. In my pants.
While it didn't take long for our own Dtoid community members to mock the resurrection of FOXHOUND, I couldn't help but drop my jaw and freak the heck out to see, of all people, Psycho Bloody Mantis floating up in the sky -- now Screaming Mantis. For those who don't realise, Psycho Mantis was and is the man and possibly my favorite videogame character of all time. This is glorious for me. Glorious indeed. While it doesn't seem likely that these are the actual FOXHOUND members, given the narration, seeing anything resembling The Mantis Man is enough to make me wig out.
Love it or loathe it, a new generation FOXHOUND is back, and it looks scary as hell.

Meet the rest of the team
I wonder if the bosses can come together and form one giant boss Power Ranger/Voltron style. Seriously, think about it. The wolf is the legs, then the octopus as the body with raven on the back as wings and mantis as the head. Seriously.
I fucking LOVE the beasts already, I have to say. I've a thing for creepy metallic voices like that and these ones are superb, plus the design is great, even if it IS a blatant Doctor Octopus rip for Laughing Boy.
The opening credits again show a severe lack of PS3 logo.
I'm Matlocking for Workman. I know I shouldn't, but I just can't help myself.
As for the trailer, Psycho Mantis is great to have back, the new Sniper Wolf is laughably corny, and what's the deal with octopus head girl? I thought the octopus member of FoxHound was dead prior to the events of the first game, and was a dude. Why in he/she back now a chick?
Any Metal Gear Solid scholars care to school me on this one?
That video was impressive...DAMN! The Crying Wolf im not too gone on though, but Raven and Mantis are looking sick as fuck! So glad i got a PS3 now.Roll on Spring bitches.
Tron: I believe these aren't the actual members of FOXHOUND. The narrative at the start seems to indicate these were people who essentially were driven mad by war and thus "became war". I think they're just taking on the guises of the dead FOXHOUND members.
It's cool how Laughing Octopus laughs, and Crying Wolf seems to be moaning, but can't Raging Raven be true to it's name without sometimes shouting "RAGGGEE" It's like "RARRR! I'M ANGRY"
Also there seems to be a distinct lack of screaming from Screaming Mantis.
I love how everything is dead and scorched, and he just pops up from behind a car. I was really 1/2 expecting him to be hiding under a box, and come out unscathed.
Damn, if that's not art, I don't know what is. That Mantis dude freaks me the fuck out, with his little dangly people at his side. *shudder* Not to mention the laughter... Wow.
I read somewhere that they are all female, thus the "Beauty and the Beast" thing. They are war victims who lost their minds and have been turned into caricatures of the original FOXHOUND team apparently.
Oh, and Jim... "I SEE YOU LIKE TO PLAY AZURE DREAMS!"
thats pretty cool, but i hope these aren't the 'real' bosses. Hopefully they're more like mini bosses or part of a side story, because there doesn't seem much chance for character development from a bunch of mechs...
Between this and the other games coming the ps3 looks pretty hot now. Especially for the euros with terrestial DVR's. Sony is slowly building the hardware and tricking it all out slowly but surely so that when these AAA titles come out itll be a match made in heaven. Metal Gear Solid baby-awesome. It only gets better from here.
These characters look great, though if you want creepy mechanical organic hybrid, war inflicted madness baddies, you have to read the Battle Angel Alita comics, nothing compares. Why doesn't someone like Hideo make a Battle Angel Alita game?
Zardoz- Battle Angel may get a good game once that James Cameron movie comes out. Then again, maybe not.
And after watching it again, I'm most impressed by the fact that Snake seems to pity the beasts, and even sort of relate with them. It's going to be interesting to see what the over all message of this game is.
Huh, I guess I'm the only one who thinks these guys were lame. I mean, that howl? What the hell, is this Scooby Doo now? "Laugh with me?" How about I just laugh AT you.
I'll admit, it was pretty cool that the dog guy could take so many bullets to the anus.
Do any of them turn into a motorcycle? That would be sweet...

I was thinking the same thing. It's like he's got a Pokemon speaking impediment.
I have to ask, dude.
Is Sony paying you for all this promotion you do?
BETRAYAL BERAYAL BETRAYALLLLLLLLL
Anyway back to MGS, looks good.
He's the body, and Otacon's tiny metal gear is the head.
next year
Doc Ock with Tits!! how can you not be impressed?
Is this MGS or Marvel Comics?
