Everybody knows that Hideo Kojima, genius that he is, shows signs of a mind that exists in another reality. Now there are promises that his latest baby, Metal Gear Solid 4, will have an intro that has never been attempted before and will never be attempted again. Knowing Kojima-san, that could mean anything, including our collective deaths.
In a recent interview, MGS4 assistant producer Ryan Payton had this to say:
we're working with a studio who is producing the opening movie for the game. We're doing it with a very untraditional studio here in LA. I think that the opening movie and the ending of the game are going to be the two talks of the town. The opening movie is something that has never been attempted, and will never be attempted again. It's something that could only come out of Hideo's mind.
There are many things that could only come out of Hideo's mind, and in all fairness, a good few of them are absolutely terrifying. Whatever may happen, however, it cannot be denied that this is a most curious development indeed. The outsourcing alone is something I would consider quite unexpected, and it seems that the introduction and ending to Guns of the Patriots is going to be spectacular.
Of course, what could this mysterious introduction be? Considering the ominous promises made by Payton, I can only assume that it involves some form of human sacrifice. Perhaps in order to make the game work, you have to find and slaughter a baby and feed your PS3 its blood. In fact, I'm certain that's what is going to happen. What about you?

Filthy hobbitses, why is Gollum in this game?
I love Hideo Kojima
Could be a game-within-a-game, like the freaky dream sequence you got in MGS3 if you saved and reset the game when you were in jail. If I remember right, that was worked on by a separate team, so this could be summat similar.
I can't wait.
They did say they'd be implementing that throughout the game (I guess in place of the 'press R1 to stare at EVA's tits' feature from 3's cutscenes), but it just doesn't seem to fit in as something that even the most enthusiastic PR guy would say has never been done, and will never be done again (and Ryan Payton is usually pretty conservative with the stuff he comes out with about the game).
As evidenced by the fact I've got four comments in when I usually just lurk around with my collar turned up, I can't fucking wait for this.
I googled for clarification (I have no idea where I initially read about it) and found this thread in the official European/German Playstation forums. Post #69 has a summary of TGS06 that mentions the Logan outsourcing. The original (and linked) source seems to be this.
OR
The intro opens up with a picture of the earth, and lists the time as being 80,000,000,000 B.C. You will spin the controller horizontally, and based on the velocity, the earth will spin and take you that far forward in time... you could play the game in ancient pre-historic eras, or in super futuristic eras. The palate swaps will be done dynamically by downloading them while the earth spins from the internet to your hard drive. Imagine raptors piloting MG: Rexes, or enemy soldier amoebas, or soldiers in knight's armor! IMAGINE!
That sounds like the kind of innovative surprise twist that Kojima would come up with. Something like, it'd send you a text message, and it wouldn't move forward until you text them back, or it texts you a password or door code... almost like that part where you have to check the case in MGS1.
Or maybe you start the game as Otacon and you have to use the web browser in the PS3 to get emails about leads on new Metal Gear activity. They could have a ton of different locations with NPCs, and you could either get the info, or just play through each location in a trial and error deal.
