Some of you may have heard of Metal Gear Solid 4 and it's possible multi-platform shenanigans, but when you watch something like this all that fades away and you just want to STFUAPMGS4. The lack of cowbell is mildy disappointing, but otherwise this game is looking better and better as the release date gets further and further. Still, this might be the only game I get for the PS3 instead of the 360 because I know the dogtag achievements are going to drive me crazy.
*goes back to playing survival mode in Samurai Warriors 2 *
That is weird, out of the blue I watched that yesterday and then today you guys post it on dtoid. I don't know what was remastered about it, the audio seemed bad and it wasn't HD but whatever.

Raiden, you're finally cool, please kill Rose.
I know some people don't like the english voice actors but seriously, Meryl in japanese sounds retarded.
Notice that at the end of the trailer the PS3 branding has been removed. The original version of this exact trailer did feature the PS3 branding at the very end on the credits screen. What does it mean?
It means that MGS4 is gonna be released on 360 tomorrow.
I've already seen that trailer too many times, but I ended up watching it again because I haven't in awhile. Don't get how that's remastered. I just wonder if leaving that 2007 part in means it's still planned to come out this year.
Raven doesnt look gay, (so far :P) 2008 obviously was scratched to 2007, and think there was a PS3 logo there somewhere, but now its not, so im guessing kojima (since he loves to play hide and seek my hints) is giving 360 owners a reason not to get the ps3.
If it comes out on 360, so be it. I'll grab it. I'd love it to come out on 360, but I bet Sony will pay top, top dollar to keep it exclusive as it will probably be the saving grace of ps3. If it does come out on Ps3, I'll wait till PS3 loses the fucking OUTLANDISH price tag and grab one. This game is SOOO awesome though.
The return of Liquid still makes me fucking happy.
I'm loving it and can't wait for the 360 release. The whole "2007" thing is intriguing. Could it be hinting at a 2007 PS3 release and a 2008 360 release? Who knows, but to put "2007" so boldly in the trailer sounds like it might arrive in one form slightly earlier than expected.
Is it me, or did those Tripods in Half-Life 2 make the same excruciating Moo sound as the Gears here? I remember explicitly the noise made at those bastards fell. If Snake has to infiltrate City 17, then I quit.
This game will be amazing just like its predecessors. I can use a broad statement like this because it's Metal Gear Solid. Anyone who disagrees is a maggot-ridden watermelon.
I really hope it doesn't come out for the 360 but if it does, I'll have to get it for the platform it was intended for, the PS3. Besides, I only own one game for the PS3 that I hardly even play.
@ Kryp - Why would you hope that 360 gamers won't get a chance to play this game?
@ falsoman - the human/animal impact on global warming is a farce. Evidence on other planets shows the same warming trend as here on earth, and there aren't any cows on neptune. It's far more likely that these warming trends are a solar-systemic phenomenon, perhaps having to do with the constantly changing sun. . .
@ Rev - Maybe war only changes if you're a cancer-ridden genetically modified super warrior.
I am excited for the new enemy gears, especially since the cows seem to be cybernetic, with the robot top half and the organic crazylegs. I think the "remastered" stamp was graphical updates. I don't remember quite as much dust, blood and particle effect in the E3 trailer, but most of those were youtubed camcorder vids posted by some kid that was too excited to keep the camera level.
OK, i hadn't seen this, or at least all of it, before. I had complete chick moment when Otacon was talking, sobbing and putting his glasses on. I teared up. I still remember the moment from MGS2 . . . real damn emotional.
MGS4 makes 274 pound man tear up like a young boy that just learned the truth about Santa Claus.
of course war changes. the tactics of battle have evolved over the centuries from wars of attrition to superiority in numbers to wars of attrition to sea dominated to armor superiority to air superiority, etc., etc. whoever thought that wars stay the same is a goddam retard.
as for the bitching and moaning that the PS3 is too expensive, the rate of inflation hasn't really impacted the price of consoles and games all that greatly -- if anything, macines are under priced. back when i was young, i recall the NES being several hundred dollars -- the NES. damn kids these days too lazy to work for their toys.
if kojima is smart (which he is) im betting he will use the sixaxis motion sensor to do nifty stuff with MG, now if this is the case, how can 360 owners experience the same?
@thestripe It's not about me caring if 360 owners get to play it, it's about my personal taste and thoughts. I want to play it on the PS3 and not on the 360 because I own both systems. 9 times out of 10 if the title is cross platform I'm buying it for the 360 because of the achievement system. I want there to be one game for the PS3 worth spending the dough on. I could careless if it comes for both, I'll still be buying it for the PS3. I hope they at least delay the release date if they decide to do such crap.
This trailer was beautiful, but it was also absolutely retarded. Soldiers who don't know what the fuck, Liquid, Raiden, Mooing Mechs that shit, foot-katana, Mustache[s]?!
And also, hey Kojima, you really don't have to tell us the name of the game that many times.
@ Kryp - "I really hope it doesn't come out for the 360"
"I could careless [sic] if it comes for both"
You see how I'm confused? If you've already decided to get it for PS3, why would it matter if it were coming out on the 360, the Wii, or even the GBA? You seem to think that giving the game a wider audience is "such crap." Even though it has absolutely no impact on you whatsoever, you said it yourself (see above). Exclusivity for this generation is reserved for consoles that have something exclusive to offer. The PS3 and 360 are going to be trading a lot of titles. You're going to see ten times the 360 exclusives, because those contracts take a lot of money, which M$ has, and Sony doesn't. Their 1.6 billion dollar losses in the gaming division are barely covered by the solid business their home electronics are doing. You should be hoping that MGS4 comes out on the 360, because that's money Sony spends on games instead of keeping titles exclusive.
@ Crunshii - let's hope he does, because so far, all the sixaxis motion controls are a far cry from the Wii, even in its (the wii's) arguably limited capacity.
I too hope it stays exclusive to the PS3, as MGS2 sold many, many more copies on the PS2 than it did for the xbox - it seems like a waste of money and effort, if you ask me.
You want-a the MGS4?
Go-onna get-a PS3.
Gaming is many things but two things it ain't are cheap and a privilege. Pay up or shut up, etc.
Exhibit A: Resistance Fall of Man: Devoid of Sixaxis motion control, unless you get caught by the slowest moving and easiest enemy in the game. I didn't know this feature existed until i'd already played through the game entirely. Not well utilized.
Exhibit B: MLB 07: Swing it like a bat? Hardly; poke it forward with both hands. Sometimes it would register swinging the controller as a swing in-game, but usually not. This frustration leads to using the traditional control scheme.
Exhibit C: Tiger Woods 2007 - This one definitely uses the sixaxis motion control, right? Nope, not at all.
I'd go on, but there aren't any more PS3 games out right now. ;) This is not to say that the tech inside the sixaxis is any less capable, it's just not utilized. When Lair comes out, we'll see if the sixaxis motion controls stack up (they will, methinks) to say, excite truck or wing island controls. (Even though wing island is horrible, the controls work.) I, for one, think that the typical controller configuration isn't going to help when trying to utilize the sixaxis in a way other than as a flight stick (a la Lair). It's not comfortable to hold when swinging it like a baseball bat (even though it doesn't actually work, because you need to hold it with both hands and jab it forward for it to be reliable, and that's nothing like swinging a baseball bat, so I might as well be pressing a button.)
This isn't a discussion about tech. It's about utilization, and the sixaxis' lack thereof. You could certainly argue that Wii devs are utilizing motion control because they have to, but it's also painfully clear that PS3 devs working on the sixaxis (so far) have yet to use it in a way that doesn't feel painfully tacked on, or otherwise has an alternative, traditional method of doing the same thing. Devs working on the Wii are going to improve the controller handling routines just as a matter of practice. I wonder how many PS3 devs are using the PS2 controller handling routine (which is undoubtedly compatible, why sony would change those aspects of the controller so as to break the PS2 toolchains and handlers is unbeknownst to me) and basically ignoring the motion sensor. For example, Lair, unless there's some other integrated mechanic that isn't immediately obvious for the left analog stick while the dragon is in the air, could be ported to the 360 and use the analog stick to fly instead of the sixaxis motion control. Is this going to drastically change gameplay? Not sure, but I'd guess probably not. Might make it a little easier, but fundamental change to the game itself: not required to release on the 360. What about bringing a game like SSX blur to the PS3? Fundamentally different, and impossible to keep the control scheme the same. Before you assholes start in, it doesn't matter which scheme you or I or Summa prefers, it matters how the game was designed, for better or worse. The sixaxis is tacked on and will be underutilized because it's a far cry compared to the tech that it's supposed to compete with, and it's far easier for devs to put in simple minigame style actions a la resistance with the sixaxis rather than try and build a game around it, even in scenarios where it makes total sense, a la Tiger.
frygar - That's the dumbest argument for exclusivity I've ever heard. How exactly is expanding the market for a specific game in the direction of a far greater number of consoles than the original release platform "a waste of money and effort." Seems to me to be a waste of money and effort to make a triple A title for a console that doesn't have a third of the installed base of it's most capable competitor. As much as you want to believe that devs like Kojima do what they do to cater to a tiny number of gaming elitists who were naive enough to jump on the PS3 without any compelling games available, that doesn't change the fact that the gaming industry is profit driven, just like everything else. If Kojima wants a huge budget project like MGS4 to turn a profit, he's going to have to sell millions of copies. Kind of hard when there aren't millions of PS3's in the wild yet.
What people keep forgetting: There is nothing that can be done with motion controls that can't also be done with a regular controller. Maybe it'll feel different, or one or the other will be better, but just because a game uses sixaxis doesn't mean that part of the game can't be put on a 360.
The game looks great. The PS3 is too expensive for me. I wish I could afford all consoles... but I can't. In less than two years I'll be adding MGS4 achievements to my gamerscore. I'll probably play it again on the PS3 when I can afford one, too.

but i don't believe that will pull 600$ out of my wallet for it. i'll just wait till it comes to the 360 or the ds.
Looks like an awesome cg movie, err I mean video game. I'll buy it if it comes for 360. I mean it looks good, but not $600 good.

Ron Perlman and the Fallout games have frequently told me that war never changes.
Solid Snake says that war DOES change.
WHO AM I SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE?
Ha, I had the exact same thought
They have farts responsible for about half the global warming problem... i think they are pretty damn scary!
But please god let this come to 360. I can't afford a PS3 but already have a 360 and I want to play this game so bad it makes me cry.

punks.
ZOMG PATRIOTS = TEH COMBINE!!
COLONEL = G-MAN!
GENOME SOLDIERS = OVERWATCH!
You know something? Gordon Snake would fucking OWN.
hmmm /think.
