By now, everyone should have had their chance to pick up a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4. In fact, some of you may (or should) be playing it right now. With a number of a midnight launches taking place around the country, we (meaning myself, along with Chad and Aerox) did our journalistic duty and attended the Konami Metal Gear Solid 4 launch party in West Hollywood, California.
It's a rough job -- listening to music; taking advantage of an open bar; eating sushi when it was presented to us; and rubbing elbows with industry pals. Why do we put ourselves through such trials? To bring you these exciting photos, of course, and to remind you that Metal Gear Solid 4 is now available for the PlayStation 3. Also, we like music, drinks, and sushi.
Not far from where the outdoor party was held, Best Buy held their own midnight launch event. What appeared to be hundreds of people lined up to grab their copy of the game, and to snag an autograph from Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter. Hours earlier, on the other side of the country, a similar event with Hideo Kojima took place in New York City. No word on whether drinks and sushi were served.
Any Destructoid readers hit their local game shops for launch events, or did you just wait to pick up your copy today?
[Spoiler: Snake kills Dumbledore.]
now i'm sitting at work listening to the soundtrack and counting the hours until i get to play THE game i've been waiting for for years. good thing i took tomorrow off! 3-day weekend + MGS4 = WIN!!!
i think love may just bloom on the battlefield.
I'm going to just...go play some Mario Kart now.
Maybe I should take off tomorrow....
that the game is delayed in spain and since in morocco all the games are imported from there I won't be getting it soon.
I DID pick up the bluetooth headset. Making myself about 40 bucks more broke than I already had been before entering today. But the headset is very much worth it as it's pretty damn comfortable and fits well in my ear.
Anyways, I don't understand the Penny Arcade thing at all. Not that I can't understand why people hate Metal Gear either. I mean, I love Metal Gear, but I absolutely loathe Splinter Cell with some unexplainable passionate hatred.
Despite the fact that I've played every Splinter Cell and found each one just as sucky as the last one. Still, regardless it just comes right down to what you like and what you dont like. Difference between me and PA is though is that I -know- that it's ok not to like something despite what everyone else might tell me.
IGN told me that Godhand and Lair sucked, but I have yet to be displeased with either of those choices.
Also, when I went to pick up my copy, there was a decent number of people already waiting there for the store to open (about 11 or 12 people), and at least six or seven of them picked up a Ps3. And I live out in the boondocks, so this could actually move a lot of systems, despite what I said earlier.
Anywho, off to play the game (whoooosh)!
Meh, may pick it up later but really have too many others to work through - still going for Mass Effect & Rock Band so yeah, ahead of the curve baby!! Well, in my own little world...
Hope people are enjoying it though, does sound good/cinematic...
MGS4, you're making it really hard to buy a 360.
MGS4 is not considered to be worth it over here apparently...
i got mine this morning at my local Ebgames ... 10 people were there for MSG4 and i saw a guy buying the PS3 bundle MGS.
btw, as I tried to play after I got the MGS4 Bundle + Collectors game, you can trade in the inside game back for a 33$ Store Credit and keep the Collectors edition version.
Or you could go in ebay and sell it for 40-50$.
ok well time to cammo up and rock this biotch. Ninja Gaiden 2 can rest up in my 360 while Snake busts some heads.
One, Screw you Chad. I want that Sushi.
Two, I still haven't played MGS1-3, so I'm waiting until I get the Essential Collection before I get MGS4.
Three, I don't want to hear any more mindless Snake-Humping than usual.
tl;dr: No PS3 for Blake ;_;
