Metal Gear Solid 4 garners a perfect score in Famitsu photo

While the only videogame reviews that really matter are the ones on Destructoid.com, when a game gets a perfect score in Japanese publication Famitsu, people listen.

And that’s exactly what Metal Gear Solid 4 just accomplished: All four reviewers in the popular magazine gave the upcoming PlayStation 3 game a 10, bringing its overall score to a perfect 40. While the opinion of four people is not the final word on whether a game will be good or not, I have always been fascinated by the games that receive perfect scores in Famitsu.

Over the years, only seven other videogames have accomplished this feat: The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, Soulcalibur, Vagrant Story, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Nintendogs, Final Fantasy XII, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Although varied almost to the point of being random, I adore each and every one of these games. It is neat to know that Metal Gear Solid 4 (the first PS3 game!) will be joining this exclusive club.

The only bad news: This does not help with the agonizing wait until next week when the game finally hits store shelves.

Famitsu rates based on hype, it's total bullshit. All those 40/40 games are great, but most don't deserve 100%.

Anyway, metacritic > all (except dtoid, of course!)

Why are these reviews posted and people act suprised over the score? Did anyone really expect MGS4 to get a low score ANYWHERE?

Well maybe here if Rev reviews it, whatever the case, MGS is a franchise that can't be touched, much like anything Nintendo games and Final Fantasy, its looked at with rose tinted glasses, no matter what flaws the final product might have, not a single reviewer will point them out, just slap an 11/10 on it, gush on how it changed your political and religious views and be done with it, the key is to praise the game without actually talking about it.

And Famitsu is a fucking joke, I remember when people used to say that getting a perfect score from Famitsu was some honor or some shit, they gave a perfect score to Nintendogs of all games, a title that was just a 40 dollar tech demo.

Uther: I don't know about you but I get my opinion of a game by playing it, not by reading what someone else thought about it.

Wait wait...Red Steel, a game I heard was pretty darn crappy, got the same score as "The Orange Box". I'm sorry, but that's just insane. Either they waaaay marked up "Red Steel" or they marked down "Orange Box".

I don't know how a game like Orange Box can be regarded as anything but amazing.

Pretty hard to score anything less then 40 when Konami restricts what you can and cannot say about the game.
