The rumor regarding whether or not Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will ever land on Xbox 360 is easily the most infamous in recent memory. I'll spare you guys the history lesson, as I'm sure many of you are up to speed on the matter, so let's instead move on to why we're bringing it up again.
Morningstar, a Japanese investment research firm, recently released a Tokyo Game Show report which examines multiplatform games and why developers are looking towards creating exclusives less and less.
In this report, a Konami pr rep is quoted as saying "we're actively looking into a release for the Xbox 360" in reference to Metal Gear Solid 4.
With so many franchises appearing on a Microsoft console for the first time ever like Tekken 6, Final Fantasy XIII, and Resident Evil 5, combined with the juicy little quote above, it seems increasingly likely that MGS4 is bound to hit the 360 eventually.
But, as they say, only time will tell.

Bring it on "Petal Rear Squalid Door", bring it on.
which being a PS3 owner..suck.
Are you serious?
Holy crap! A "Salute Your Shorts" reference! That's even one of the few episodes I vividly remember! Whoa...
I'm starting to feel old.
Oh, and whatever for the cross-ports. There are a bunch of great games that should see as wide an audience as possible, so long as they don't half-ass the port I can't complain too much.
70 show :I say good day.
Most blatant flamebait of all time?
Your source, is this one guy, on the Playstation 3 forums.
You seriously had me there for a moment.
Honestly I could care less; a multiplatform release would broaden the audience for what is a pretty solid (lol getit) game. I don't have a 360 but I wouldn't begrudge its playerbase good games.
8/10, would rage again.
Kojima himself already said that it "probably wouldn't be possible on the 360." THE MAN HIMSELF SAID THAT. Isn't that enough of a hint? Personally, as a PS3-only owner (by choice --- I sold my 360 willingly), I'd actually LOVE to see it go to the 360. It's my favorite game, and I think everyone deserves to experience it.
@Xhumation
Nail in the coffin? You're kidding, right? Even if MGS4 did come to the 360, it's a guarantee that it wouldn't look, play, or feel as good as it does on the PS3. Plus, it'd probably be in the neighborhood of 5 discs, if Lost Odyssey is already 4, and no, that's not an exaggeration. Plus, the PS3 has a TON going for it over the 360 right now. It's all preference, and MGS4 going multiplatform definitely would NOT mean the "death of the PS3."
@Rainbowblack
What now?
:)
I say MGS4 for Castle Crashers is a fair trade :D.
"Otherwise, expectations for Konami were high. In the assembly hall, the great interest was on the smash hit Metal Gear Solid 4 -- "Throughout the world, the demand for Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Xbox 360 has been great, and so we are looking into it." As I thought, they are looking towards multi-platform for the title. Since sales of the PS3 title have been decreasing, it seems like this will be an adverse stock market factor for Sony. While the series has been a huge title for Sony's brand, the influence that Sony will have depends on how not making this move would affect both Konami and Sony's stock prices."
Ignoring all the stuff Kojima said, and taking this solely from a business standpoint, Konami wants to pull some more money out of this since the sales are flagging (as we've seen by the cheap used prices). If and only if Konami manages to find a feasible way to do it on the 360, then Sony would probably have the opportunity to throw a ton of money at them in order to keep the project off limits for a long while.
The 360 is done?
"youll turn 360 degrees and walk away", i lol'd
One more for "WTH with Workman".
I've posted this link too many times. Screw console wars they're both awesome.
bioshock, for example. a THIRD party game that was actively denied by the developer as going to the PS3...
...then we hear "looking into it"...
...then they announce it...
...then it comes out a year later
Is it really that hard?
I also heard from this guy who was re-creating famous paintings by Michelangelo in a back ally using Crest toothpaste and his own urine that MGS4 was a video game that APPARANTLY was released sometime in the year 2008.
He was also wearing a raspberry beret. The kind you'd find in a second hand store.
Take it for what it's worth, that's all i'm saying.
I want to get paid to make pee-art.
In business, people don't care about your feelings. Dick McVengeance said it pretty well... either way, Konamu stands to make a lot of money off of this... either make it for the 360 or pressure Sony to cough up some dough to keep it exclusive.
I wish it would come to the 360 though, then the multiplayer could be played like it is supposed to be played... with everyone using headsets and cooperating.
Also... you could just install the whole game on your 120gb hard drive if you're that fucking sad about disc swapping.
Get over the shit. Japanese developers love money.
and please stop hatin on the 360 and the people who play em. Cant we just all get along? Cuz in the end its just games lol.
but cereal, monies.
Actually, if anything it's the whole problem with storage that Microsoft SHOULD have convinced Toshiba to keep HD DVD as a data storage medium instead of abandoning the format all together. Even if it took two dual-layer HD DVDs, that would have been far more acceptable than numerous DL DVDs.
Seriously though, does anyone really think that this would happen? By the time that it's developed, tested, and released on the XB360, MGS4 will have been "old news" and newer games would have come out that would supersede it.
Also, shitstorm.
