From what little we've seen of this version, the facial animations are actually better than the PS3 version, more realistic.
Its entirely possible the game could still take a hit where cutscenes are concerned, falling back to a motion comic style (which was actually pretty cool for the PSP games), but they're clearly able to do more here than they did PSP or PS3
Kojima's been really good wit the detail here, too. Falling leaves, dust, insects, birds. They added a new layer to the wildlife of MGS3 here and I like that quite a bit.
Para-Medics going to need to tell me what that hummingbird tasts like.
And none of this looked like actual gameplay.
Dont you hate it when your arm makes that noise as soon as you move it slightly?
Weeell, anyways. Despite how im making this look, im actually quite interested in this game.
Well, if anything, I'm definitively going to find my PS2 and my copy of MGS3 now.
Watch the whole video, it indeed looks like its being rendered in 3D (Low resolution textures, jaggies, polygonal anomalies, it would be stupid to think they faked these effects, etc) but on the other hand, it does look very scripted in the parts where it seems the player was controlling Snake.
Still, its quite damn good.
nice to updated moves such as being able to walk while crouching, hopefully you can CQC multiple enemies at the same time.
can't wait to eat fish, snakes, and frogs in 3D :)

what an idiot awful story? this is probably the best video game portrayal of Master and Servant. the 1960's bond theme, awesome theme song, one of the craziest boss fights ever, tons of easter eggs and hidden movies, theater mode.
it's not really aiming for realistic.
the best line in the game is probably "There is only room for one snake and one boss"
Regarding the second advertisement...uh...yeah. If Kojima's involved, I care; if not, then not. And by that, I mean Kojima as an individual, not a corporate entity.
Which means I probably won't care. But hey! Hatchet 2 is coming! FUCK YEAH!
I think the biggest problem with it is that Kojima blindly followed fan requests. Kinda reminds me of what Miayomoto did with Twilight Princess.
You thought wrong.
Best game ever ever ever ever until I played Deus Ex. Still a very strong number 2. I have not bought a handheld since the paperweight which was the PSP (which I unfortunately busted before the recent influx of really good games), and I might buy a 3DS just for this.

The MGS games are all pretty campy, but if you get into the style then MGS3 will make you cry manly tears. Go back and replay MGS1, the script was pretty damn bad in that game too, but it all works because the voice acting was top notch and everything was so over the top and played deadly straight. If you think any of these games are objectively well written, you've got some thick nostalgia goggles. But I love the writing for what it is.
