There are a a lot of incredible 3DS games on the horizon (Super Mario, Luigi's Mansion 2, and hopefully Mega Man Legends 3 to name a few), but not many of them offer the same guarantee of quality as Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D (scheduled for release this November). It's easily my favorite game in the series, for its humor, its drama, and perhaps most of all, its genuine focus on survival. Instead of utilizing the healing factor system that's sneaked it's way into so many games of late (including Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker), Snake Eater requires you to work at staying healthy. That means keeping your stomach full by hunting and eating a variety of wildlife, including snakes, crabs, and of course, tree frogs. You also have to manually patch up your injuries with some mini self-surgery. Otherwise, your wounds won't go away, no matter how many rations you eat. Those little details go a long way to make the game's world feel like a real place.

That's why I'm a little worried to hear that elements of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker are making their way into Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D

According to a recent interview with Nintendo Power, the game's producer Yoshikazu Matsuhana said:"The player controls and some other well received elements from MGS4 and Peace Walker have been implemented into the game" and "The camera from Subsistence has been adopted, as well as elements of the free roaming camera system that was implemented in MGS4 and Peace Walker."

Other than the multi-player and the camera, I can't think of too many elements from MGS4 and Peace Walker that I'd want tacked on to MGS:SE3D. I do hope they keep the Ape Escape-based bonus game in there though, with the apes swapped out for Animal Crossing characters maybe?

Nintendo: New 3DS is the best-selling remodel so far

While dropping some knowledge in its latest semi-annual financial results briefing, Nintendo casually mentioned the state of the New 3DS -- and it's good! It appears as if Japan is all over the thing, as the sales through the...more

The EU/AU regions are getting a Shovel Knight 3DS theme

Shovel Knight came, saw, and conquered in a few territories. I've even see a few people say that it's their game of the year, which is awesome. But some regions haven't gotten the game yet, and as a result, Yacht Club Games i...more
